🎆 🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PLEASANT VALLEY FIREWORKS ENFORCEMENT & Neighborhood Peace Preservation Division 🚨

It's that magical time of year...

The grills are sizzling.
The mosquitoes are clocking in for overtime.
Dad has declared himself the official "Fireworks Safety Supervisor" despite wearing flip-flops.

Before someone accidentally recreates the Battle of Gettysburg in the cul-de-sac, let's talk fireworks. 💥

✅ In Pleasant Valley, you CAN enjoy:

✨ Fountains
✨ Sparklers
✨ Firecrackers
✨ Smoke bombs
✨ Ground spinners
✨ Wheels
✨ Multi-effect aerials
✨ Night shells

❌ But these are a HARD NO:

🚫 Bottle rockets
🚫 Rockets of any kind
🚫 Roman candles that leave debris
🚫 Winged flying fireworks
🚫 Parachute fireworks

Basically...

If your firework has a passport, needs FAA clearance, or your neighbor has to retrieve it from their roof...
..it's probably illegal here. 😅

⏰ You may only discharge fireworks:
📅 July 2, 3 & 4
🕙 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM

Not:
❌ July 1 "because you're excited."
❌ July 5 "because you found a few leftovers."
❌ 1:17 AM because "it looked cool."

Also...
🏛️ No fireworks on City property unless specifically authorized.
👮 Officers and firefighters may confiscate prohibited fireworks.
💸 Violations can result in fines from $100 to $500, possible jail time, or both. Every violation can count as a separate offense.

We want everyone to celebrate safely so our officers, firefighters, EMS crews, and dispatchers spend Independence Day enjoying the holiday—not chasing bottle rockets through neighborhoods or explaining to someone's insurance company why their trampoline is suddenly on fire.

So be courteous.
Watch out for your neighbors, veterans, young children, pets, and anyone who may not appreciate surprise explosions.

Celebrate responsibly...
and let's keep the only things lighting up the night sky the fireworks that are actually legal. 🇺🇸🎇

The Pleasant Valley Police Department was proud to have Sgt. Heckman represent our agency at the Fort Osage Career and Technology Center Public Safety Career Fair.

Sgt. Heckman enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students, answer their questions, and provide real-world insight into a career in law enforcement. Events like this allow students to learn directly from working professionals, gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of the job, and explore future career opportunities in public safety.

We believe building relationships with students and investing in education is essential to developing the next generation of public safety professionals. Thank you to Fort Osage CTC for inviting us and for providing students with meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning to real-life careers.
