Turtle Heroes/Road Crossing Guards....share your location to help identify hotspots!

🐒 Please Report Reptile and Amphibian Road Crossing Hotspots for Wildlife Research 🐸
πŸ”— https://ow.ly/agO150YVKew
⚠️ Our agency, in partnership with Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Department of Natural Resources, are asking the public to report locations where they see reptiles and amphibians frequently cross roadways. Wildlife crossings put both animals and passenger vehicles at risk on the roadway, so reports can help ODNR and ODOT can create safer solutions for wildlife crossing areas.

☠️ In spring and summer, reptiles such as box turtles, snapping turtles, and snakes are vulnerable to vehicles as they cross roadways to lay eggs, find new habitat, or seek shelter. In the early spring and occasionally in the fall, amphibians like salamanders, frogs, and toads sometimes cross roads as they travel to breeding areas.

πŸ‘€ Observers can report locations of reptile and amphibian road crossings via the Wildlife Reporting System (https://ow.ly/agO150YVKew) and on the HuntFish OH mobile app. Observations of live animals are helpful, as are reports of roadkill. Users are encouraged to take note of road crossing locations and submit reports once they are no longer driving. Never use this app while driving; please park in a safe location before reporting or ask a passenger to make the report.

The annual Spring Litter Clean-up event will be held at multiple locations throughout Clermont County on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Event organizers, including the Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District and the Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District, are currently recruiting volunteers to help clear trash and unsightly debris at several parks, waterways and other shared open spaces across the county. Families, individuals, scout groups, and other organizations are encouraged to participate!

Several of the staging events planned for this event include East Fork State Park, Stonelick State Park, City of Milford, Union Township, Miami Township, and the Village of Williamsburg.
All volunteers will be provided with materials for their clean-up activities, including protective gloves and trash bags. Individuals that request litter cleanup materials will be sent details for supply pick-up in their communities.
Please visit the Spring Litter Clean-up website for more information or register: www.springlittercleanup.com

πŸ™Œ Spring Rainbow Trout Stockings 🎣
πŸ”— ohiodnr.gov/troutstockings
🌈 Rainbow trout releases will take place across Ohio during March through May in 2026. Stockings of these public lakes and ponds are excellent opportunities for families to fish together. Fishing for catchable-sized trout is a great way to introduce young people to the outdoors. Rainbow trout are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches before they are released. The daily harvest limit for inland lakes is five trout per angler. 🐟
