Highly decorated U.S. Army Master Aviator Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5) Kennie Kelly has officially been reinstated into the military with full back pay and benefits.
CW5 Kelly was previously discharged from service after refusing to comply with the Biden-era military COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Because of his separation, he originally lost his position and active military pension status.
The Reinstatement: Following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump and directive actions from U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Kelly was brought back into active service at his former rank.
Back Pay Rules: Under the current Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) policies, service members returning under this specific program receive back pay, basic allowances, and bonuses accrued during their separation period. However, this requires a new two-year service commitment to the military.
