Last stop of the day was truly a pleasure to witness one of our own Best Selling authors,
A. Faye Boykin who highlighted her latest book with actual reading of excerpts and of course a book signing session.
Her captivating presentation was nothing short of Amazing . The title of her book is Universal Takeaways from Tubman: Leadership and Light Tour. Let’s be sure to support this work of art.
Special Thanks to everyone on staff at the Pleasant Grove Library for hosting such an event.

Let’s talk about our awesome students at the great Pleasant Grove High School.
I had the awesome opportunity to be asked to give our kids a pep talk as they visited Miles College today for a conference dedicated to helping our students not only prepare but to Master the ACT test and make their way to the next level. I am elated that I can be seen as a vessel and become a trusted resource to pour into our youth . I also took the opportunity to sponsor a scrumptious lunch for them to enjoy an all day conference on the great campus of Miles College as they also received an intentional campus tour to give them the entire experience of post High School . We had 101 children in attendance as they volunteered to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity. All aspects of the ACT exam was covered as well as other opportunities for our kids . All of our PGHS counselors were on deck to help make this happen but thanks especially to Mr Michael Erraca who along with many others from PGHS, helped to pull all of this together . The one thing he mentioned among all who were there was that he’s never seen such strong support coming from our City officials ever in his history . I’m stating that only because I’m thankful and humbled that he took the time to recognize what he sees and have seen . Today gives me further hope that a difference can be made one day and one student at a time . He told the kids that we had their backs and trust me, I can speak loudly and say that’s the truth and the whole truth. Let’s all try to intentionally go “out of our way” to make a difference that our kids can see and feel. Our Mayor Yolanda Yvette Lawson also served up a gift and challenge to all in attendance that she would personally sponsor their registration fees for signing up on a very dedicated HBCU Scholarship platform that was mentioned in the conference. I will let her speak further but the I just could not help myself from telling you because the impact on those children when announced was impactful. Lastly, James J Steven Wilkerson was also asked to attend and pour into our kids and had the attention of everyone in the room as he spoke truth to power. As he spoke, his stance and experience as a career Military man was hard to look away from.
It’s tough for me to finish my day right now because of the excitement in the air. It doesn’t take much for me when it comes to our children as they try to navigate these waters of life. And if there’s anything I can do, I will always jump at the opportunity to serve our youth and try to lead them in a good direction by being a shining example to them both personally and professionally. Enjoy the photos and thanks again for your support .o e nt

Where do I start? I think Saturday morning is a good place, which was the last weekend of Black History Month . It was a great end to such a celebration. I had the awesome privilege of being invited by the Mount Pilgrim Number Two District Conference of Christian education, Black History, Youth program as the guest Keynote speaker. I’ve had a pretty busy Black History Month that related to speaking to our youth and older audiences as well but this weekend was a little more special as it was targeted for only our youth. The organizers were sure to have the kids on point in their Dance, Oratorical and presentation skills. Thanks again to all the organizers, Darlene Cotton for the invite and the overall hospitality of first Baptist Roosevelt city where the Pastor is Reverend Bobby Palmore . I understand that this celebration started on the 26th and ended on the 28th with the youth as a finale for the entire number 2 district. Thanks again for having me .

Good morning Facebook . This is just one more nugget, one more gem that I will share to wrap up this great Black History Month. My last stop was on Sunday for the Busy Bee Academy and Buzzin Bees Learning School’s Black History observance.
I was highlighted as black history.
Little Karleigh Young portrayed me and shared it with an awaiting audience . The special part about little Carly is that she is the granddaughter of my cousin . She spoke of my accomplishments that I have gained throughout the years. I am so humbled by God and thankful to him that he has allowed me to accomplish so much in these 56 years of life . I am forever grateful, and I mean that from the depths of my heart to God. I am not ashamed to thank God on any platform of what he’s done for me. This particular black history program was so special in that the kids from ages two all the way up to four maybe 5, were just amazing. They learned their speeches to pay tribute to people like me. Many thanks to the Busy Bee Academy’s owner, Dr Valerie T Woods, and her staff, for such an event. The event was definitely top shelf and outstanding is not enough to describe the packed house I walked into on yesterday . Thank you so much for the honor. They were able to make posters and come up with something creative to make sure folks knew who I was, and the others as well who were honored on Sunday. I felt blessed to be amongst Senators, legislators, Judges, Chiefs of police and the list goes on and on and on. Thanks again Dr Valerie T. Wood, who happens to be my cousin as well, and your incredible staff. It’s people like you who give me hope for our future leaders. Thank you so much again for the honor.
Just a sidenote because I don’t mind sharing the stage. Our first African-American female mayor for the city of Pleasant Grove , Yolanda Lawson was honored as well. She was portrayed by Miss Trinity who did an outstanding job. Myself and Senator Merika Coleman received her presentation on her behalf . God bless you
