Today, we join several other local agencies as we pause to remember the sacrifice of Sheriff Andy Clark, who gave his life in the line of duty on June 3, 2020.

The men and women of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office have not forgotten Sheriff Clark’s service, dedication, and commitment to protecting his community. On this anniversary, our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Sheriff Clark’s family, friends, and all those who had the honor of serving alongside him.

End of Watch: June 3, 2020

Please keep Sheriff Clark’s loved ones and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts today.

What an incredible weekend! The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office had an amazing time connecting with everyone at the 2026 Lathrop Friendship Festival.

Our staff loved chatting with you at our booth and passing out educational materials. A huge shoutout to our awesome partners at Hallmark in Liberty for donating some fantastic items that brought massive smiles to the kiddos' faces!

Why so many Deputies?

We heard this question a few times over the weekend, and Sheriff Carrel wanted to share the two main reasons why we show up in force for community events:

First - It allows our staff to truly understand the community they serve. We want you to see us, get to know us, and feel comfortable approaching us anytime.

Second - Partnering side-by-side with our local police departments and first responders is exactly how we continue to provide the best, most cohesive services for every single community in Clinton County.

We don't just patrol together; we race together! Chief Neill, Sheriff Carrel, Lieutenant Parker, and Lathrop resident Michael Todd even teamed up and took first place in a relay race this weekend. Safe to say, they gave it their all!

Thank you, Lathrop, for welcoming us with open arms. We are honored to serve you!

We will be at the Cameron Balloon Festival next weekend so come by and say hello!

This Memorial Day weekend, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office joins our community in pausing to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

We owe an unpayable debt of gratitude to these heroes who laid down their lives to protect our freedom and our families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the gold star families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every single day.

As you gather with family and friends for barbecues, lake trips, or backyard visits this weekend, please take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

Reminder:
With more traffic on our county roads and surrounding highways, your safety is our top priority. Our deputies will be out ensuring the roads stay safe.

Never drink and drive always designate a sober driver.

Buckle up and ditch the distractions while behind the wheel.

Watch out for increased pedestrian and boat traffic.

Have a safe, meaningful, and blessed Memorial Day weekend, Clinton County.

REELING IN THE GOOD TIMES! ☀️🎣

We are absolutely thrilled to announce the incredible success of our 1st Annual Casting With Heroes Fishing Event!

This fantastic day all started with a brilliant idea from Missouri Conservation Agent Sarah McNeely, who wanted to create a spring/summer program to stay connected with some of the amazing kids we sponsor during our Shopping With A Hero at Christmas time. Agent McNeely and Sheriff Carrel teamed up, hit the ground running, and made her vision come to life alongside an incredible crew of local first responders!

An event like this takes a village, and we could NOT have done it without the immense generosity of our community partners. A massive shout-out to: Bryce Mitchell, Owner of Mitchell Tree Company and Walmart of Cameron Missouri.

Thank you both for funding this event and casting your support behind our local youth!

🚒🚑🚓 Our First Responder Dream Team!
Our heroes didn't just show up; they brought the energy, the fun, and plenty of fishing tips! We are extremely grateful for the dedication and time given by:

Gower Fire Protection District, Plattsburg Fire Protection District, Lathrop Fire Protection District, Edgerton Trimble Fire Protection District, Plattsburg, Missouri Police Department, Missouri Dept. of Conservation, Clinton County Sheriff's Foundation

Sheriff AJ Carrel Stated "It is events such as these that continue to build our working relationships while providing education and fun for our youth and community. We look forward to building this event for many years to come."

Between the big catches, the big smiles, and the awesome teamwork, the 1st Annual Casting With Heroes is officially in the books and we are already counting down the days until next year!

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate Deputy J. Proctor for his outstanding service as the School Resource Deputy at the East Buchanan School District.

During his time in our schools, Deputy Proctor has been far more than just a uniform in the hallway. He has been a steadfast mentor, a trusted advisor, and a positive role model for our students. His commitment to providing guidance and building meaningful relationships has left a lasting impact on the East Buchanan community.

Deputy Proctor will be transferring back to the Road Patrol Division at the end of today!

Please join the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office in thanking Deputy Proctor for his dedication and for the heart he poured into this role.

We are incredibly proud of the work you’ve done!
