The City of Platteville knows many residents are excited to enjoy the new pool and our staff shares that enthusiasm. Due to an unexpected delay in the arrival of two key pool filters, a small adjustment to the opening schedule is necessary. As a result, the Pool Ribbon Cutting Ceremony has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., with the official Ribbon Cutting at 4:30 p.m.

With Music in the Park taking place from 6:00–8:00 p.m. that same evening at City Park, the earlier ribbon-cutting time provides an opportunity for community members to celebrate the new pool, then enjoy an evening of live music.

The City of Platteville appreciates the community's patience and understanding as final preparations are completed on this exciting project. The city looks forward to celebrating with the community and welcoming everyone to the pool very soon!

Today we say thank you and farewell to Officer Simeon Morell as he retires from the Platteville Police Department after nearly 10 years of dedicated service. Best wishes as you begin this new chapter, Simeon. We are grateful for your service and wish you continued succes!

After nearly 10 years of dedicated service to the Platteville community, Officer Simeon Morell retired today from the Platteville Police Department to begin a new chapter with Rolling Hills Church.

Throughout his time with the department, Officer Morell has served our community with professionalism, commitment, and compassion. His contributions have had a lasting impact not only within our organization, but also on the many residents he has served over the years. Officer Morell served as an Officer in Charge, Field Training Officer, lead instructor in many topics, and as a team leader with the Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team.

While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him as he takes on this new opportunity and continues serving others in a different capacity. Please join us in thanking Officer Morell for his years of service and wishing him and his family the very best in this next chapter.

Thank you, Officer Morell — and good luck at Rolling Hills Church. You will be missed.

Congratulations on your retirement, Cheryl! Thank you for your years of dedicated service to the City and the Library. We wish you all the best as you begin this exciting new chapter.

Best wishes to Business Manager Cheryl Philipps! Cheryl is retiring after nearly two decades at the Library, and we will miss her! Cheryl is the behind-the-scenes force that keeps the lights on at the Library, quite literally. Whether she’s making sure the bills get paid so we can have a building full of books, ensuring all of our supplies are stocked and organized, remembering the ins and outs of all three service desks, or having the best collection of seasonal sweaters, Cheryl has made the Library a better place. We wish you the best, Cheryl!
