Tonight’s State of the Union is a reminder that America’s strength doesn’t come from Washington — it comes from the people. Families, workers, small businesses, law enforcement, and communities are carrying this country forward every single day.

Here in Louisiana, our industrial base — from energy production and petrochemicals to shipping and manufacturing — helps power not only our state but the entire nation. In Iberville Parish, the hardworking men and women in our plants, on our river, and in our local businesses are a vital part of America’s economic engine and national security.

We need policies that lower costs, secure the border, support energy independence, back our police, protect constitutional freedoms, and keep America strong on the world stage.

No matter who is in office, the goal should always be the same: a safer, freer, more prosperous nation for our children.

America works best when government is limited, accountability is real, and opportunity is wide open — especially for the communities that produce, build, and sustain our country every day.

God bless Louisiana, God bless Iberville Parish, God bless President Trump and God bless the United States of America.

As Mardi Gras winds down, we extend our sincere thanks to the men and women of the Plaquemine Police Department, the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the surrounding law enforcement agencies who worked tirelessly to keep our community safe.

We also want to recognize the city and parish crews who set up and cleaned the parade routes, as well as the parade organizers and krewes who made this Carnival season such a success. It was a great Mardi Gras here in Iberville Parish — thank you to everyone who made it possible.

Happy Presidents’ Day from the Iberville Republican Parish Executive Committee.

Today we honor the leaders who shaped our nation and the enduring principles that make America strong — freedom, responsibility, faith, and the rule of law.

From George Washington’s steadfast character to Abraham Lincoln’s courage to preserve the Union, our history reminds us that true leadership requires integrity, sacrifice, and a commitment to the people.

As Republicans, we remain dedicated to defending the Constitution, protecting liberty, and preserving the values that have made the United States the greatest nation in the world.

Let us not only remember our presidents today — let us strive to uphold the ideals they were sworn to protect.

God Bless Iberville Parish and God Bless the United States of America!

At the December meeting of the Iberville Parish Council, Chasity Martinez addressed an issue in her district that had already gone before the Planning Commission and passed.

During discussion, she said, “When I was put in office, I was put in place to represent my people, and the majority of them don’t want it.”

Several council members then asked how she wanted them to vote, since the matter directly affected her district. She responded that she wanted the item tabled. The council appeared confused and continued asking which position she actually supported.

When the issue returned for a vote in January, instead of taking a stand, she abstained.

Leadership isn’t about sitting on the sidelines when tough decisions arise — it’s about stepping up and doing the job the voters elected you to do.

Abstaining from a critical vote that directly impacts your own district doesn’t just avoid accountability — it leaves your constituents without a voice. It creates confusion, stalls progress, and denies the community the leadership they deserve.

If you’re going to hold office, you vote.
Dodging tough calls undermines the trust people place in you.

Our parish deserves representatives who take clear positions, defend their beliefs, and don’t shy away when the pressure is on. And if someone can’t handle the responsibility of local government, how can voters expect them to shoulder the far greater demands of serving in the Louisiana Legislature?

That’s what real leadership looks like.

Brad J. Daigle won’t back down from difficult decisions. He’ll show up, speak up, and vote — every time — bringing principled leadership and a strong conservative voice to District 60 and Baton Rouge.

Because leadership means standing firm, not standing aside.
