Good news for Iberville Parish homeowners!

As Louisiana continues expanding access to the Fortify Homes Program, Iberville Parish is now included among the eligible parishes. This program helps homeowners strengthen their roofs against severe weather and may help reduce insurance costs.

When I became aware that Iberville was not included, I reached out to ensure our parish's eligibility was reviewed. I'm grateful that Iberville residents will now have access to the same opportunity available to homeowners in other qualifying areas.

Assumption Parish was originally included. This is a win for our community and another example of why it is important to stay engaged, ask questions, and advocate for District 60.

For more information on eligibility and application opportunities, visit the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program website.

In my first legislative session, I was proud to work alongside Senator Kleinpeter to advance public safety with several bills aimed at curbing police chases that are all too often fatal. I was on hand for the signing of my bill, now Act 175, that creates new "specialty black" license plates, which will fund training for high-speed pursuits. This and other bills honor Maggie Dunn and Caroline Gill, tragic victims during a police chase in Brusly in 2022. I will always stand up for the safety of our community.

As the 2026 legislative session concluded, I was proud to see both chambers unanimously pass my resolution calling for greater transparency and accountability in our insurance markets.

The goal is to provide lawmakers and the public with the information needed to make informed decisions about insurance policy. It will help us measure whether reforms passed in previous legislative sessions are delivering real results and identify where additional action may be needed.

As families face rising premiums, nonrenewals, and limited coverage options, HCR 118 is a step forward.

🚨 PIERRE PART BRIDGE UPDATE 🚨

I am in direct communication with DOTD regarding the mechanical issues affecting the Pierre Part Bridge.

The bridge is experiencing a pump failure, and DOTD is working to locate a replacement and begin repairs as quickly as possible. The Coast Guard is being notified, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

I understand the frustration and inconvenience this causes for residents who rely on this bridge every day. Please know I am actively working with DOTD to ensure they understand the impact on our community and the urgency of getting this issue resolved.

I will continue to keep you informed as I receive updates.

What an exciting day for White Castle!

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend today's groundbreaking for the new White Castle Training and Learning Center due to being in session at the Capitol, but I am incredibly proud to support this project and what it means for our community.

This investment is about creating opportunities, strengthening workforce development, and giving residents the tools they need to succeed. Projects like this help small towns thrive, attract new investment, and create a brighter future for the next generation.

A lot of hard work went into making this project a reality, and I want to thank everyone who played a part in bringing it across the finish line. A special thank you to Councilwoman Shalonda Allen and Mayor Morris for their passion, dedication, and genuine love for the community and the people they serve. Leaders who care deeply about their town and are willing to put in the work make all the difference.

While I couldn't be there in person, I am proud to support efforts that move White Castle forward and improve the quality of life for the families who call it home.

The future is bright for White Castle, and I can't wait to see the impact this project will have for years to come.

Protecting our communities and advancing projects that improve resilience and quality of life requires strong partnerships at every level of government. Thank you to Senator John Kennedy for hearing me out about the Bayou Sorrel Pump Station Project, a critical infrastructure investment for our communities. I will never stop speaking up for District 60!

🚨 NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY 🚨
BAYOU SORREL & BAYOU PIGEON BRIDGE OPENING NOTICE

Beginning tonight, the Bayou Sorrel Bridge and Bayou Pigeon Bridge will be opened nightly from 12:00 AM - 3:00 AM (starting early Thursday morning, May 28) until further notice to assist with increased water outflow and help lower water levels in the Bayou Sorrel and Bayou Pigeon communities.

These overnight bridge openings are part of ongoing efforts to improve drainage conditions as additional rainfall and elevated water levels continue to impact the area.

Please also be advised that the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office has emergency response plans in place. Law Enforcement and Ambulance Services will remain available 24 hours a day throughout this event and an operator will remain on site and will close the bridge as needed.

If you experience an emergency, please call immediately for assistance.

We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as crews continue monitoring conditions and working to protect our communities.

I appreciate the continued attention being brought to these critical flood mitigation and drainage issues affecting our communities. Since stepping into the role of State Representative for District 60, this has been one of my top priorities, and I have remained actively engaged in conversations with local leaders, state agencies, stakeholders, and legislative partners as well as the Governor & his team to push for real, long-term solutions.

I also understand the frustration, concerns, and mistrust many people have surrounding this issue. For years, these problems have been discussed with little to no visible progress, and I understand why many residents are tired of hearing promises without seeing results. Our communities deserve more than conversations and temporary bandaid fixes.

This area continues carrying a major burden when it comes to flood relief for surrounding regions, while many of our own long-term infrastructure needs remain unresolved. That is unacceptable, and it is exactly why accountability, transparency, and consistent pressure on decision-makers must remain a priority.

The Parish President and I are working together to ensure stakeholders are fully informed and that we remain in front of agencies and decision-makers every opportunity we get to fight for the funding these projects require. This will take strong collaboration at the local, state, and regional levels, including participation from neighboring parishes, legislators, agencies, and community members to make sure these projects are done correctly.

I have already begun collaborating with fellow Representatives, Senators & members of Congress because this issue is bigger than politics it’s about protecting our communities, our homes, our businesses, and our future.

I will continue pushing for solutions, accountability, and action not more talk and not more temporary fixes.

Protecting Iberville Parish starts with planning. 🚧 🌧️

One of the concerns we hear most from residents is the ongoing sediment buildup and flood risk within the Lower Grand River area. To help address these challenges, President Daigle has officially submitted a state and federal funding request for the Lower Grand River Sediment Removal & Regional Flood Risk Reduction Project.

The proposed project would focus on removing sediment accumulation that restricts water flow and contributes to drainage issues throughout the region — helping strengthen flood mitigation efforts, improve resilience during heavy rainfall events, and better protect nearby homes, property, and infrastructure.

President Daigle and the Parish Council remain committed to pursuing every available opportunity to secure funding for critical drainage and infrastructure improvements across Iberville Parish.

We will continue to keep residents updated as this request progresses through the review process.

Proud to stand alongside the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, our deputies, and DOTD as we work together to address traffic safety in our communities.

These issues were brought forward by law enforcement and members of the community, and I believe in getting the right people at the table to focus on real solutions and real results for the people I represent in Iberville and Assumption Parish. Officer safety is also a priority to me because our deputies deserve better as they work every day to protect our communities.

I’ll continue fighting for transparency, accountability, and teamwork to make sure our people are heard and that we keep moving forward together.
