Last night, our members from Plantsville Engine Company # 2 Inc. and Engine Company 1, Town of Southington spent the evening sharpening one of the most critical skills in emergency response—vehicle extrication.
From stabilizing vehicles to cutting and spreading metal, every movement is intentional. These scenarios may look routine during training, but in real life, they often mean the difference between life and death for someone trapped inside a wrecked vehicle.
Why we train:
Vehicle accidents are unpredictable and high-risk. Practicing extrication allows our crews to:
• Work quickly and efficiently under pressure
• Coordinate seamlessly as a team
• Adapt to different vehicle types and damage patterns
• Minimize further injury to patients during removal
Training like this builds confidence, sharpens skills, and prepares our crews to perform when seconds count most. Proud of the dedication and professionalism shown by our members every time they step out to train.
Also, a huge thank you to Chuck & Eddie's Used Auto Parts for the use of their lot and vehicles and to our dedicated and knowledgeable instructors from Southington Fire Department
