“It’s OK to not be OK.” For Cari Barter, a mother of three, ASC’s Family Strengthening program provided encouragement and direction when she needed it most. After learning that two of her children have developmental disabilities, Cari felt overwhelmed trying to find the resources they needed.
🤝 Every family deserves access to support. Through this program funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC), Cari found parenting guidance, practical resources, and support to advocate for her children. Today, she draws on her own experiences to help other families feel supported, too.
🗳️ A portion of Broward County property taxes fund CSC programs like this one. Amendment 3 would expand property tax exemptions for eligible homeowners, but could also reduce the revenue available to support these services. Less funding could mean fewer families able to access the guidance, resources, and assistance they need.

For Cari and her family, having support has meant finding a village at ASC and knowing they don’t have to navigate challenges alone. Today, Cari is helping other families find that same connection—and her own family continues to grow and thrive!
