Do you know the addresses of your most frequented locations? Can you recite them off to a 911 operator in time of emergency?

We suggest trying to internalize these addresses until you’re able to easily recall them! Encourage your family, kids included, to do the same!

Location is the most important key to getting help to you quickly. We need to know the street address, and we also need to know where you are within the location.

Good morning, Plano! I hope you packed your umbrella! We have a chance of potentially severe weather today. Please make sure you're staying weather aware! ⛈️☔

Bottom Line
Showers and storms will move south and east along a cold front today, primarily bringing a threat for damaging winds, large hail, and flooding.

Overview
● Showers and thunderstorms are starting to blossom across North Texas and are slowly pushing south and east along/ahead of a cold front.
● Storm intensification is likely late morning through the afternoon, with strong to severe storms persisting as they move further into Central Texas through the evening.
○ Damaging winds and large hail will be possible with any of today’s storms.
● We’re watching for an additional round of storms moving in from the west in the evening/overnight, mainly for Central Texas.
○ While a few severe storms are possible with this activity, the main threat tonight will be heavy rain and isolated flash flooding.
● Extended Forecast: An active and unsettled pattern will continue mid/late week and into the weekend. While the severe potential is low, the flooding threat will increase due to multiple rounds of rain which will be heavy at times.

Heads up, Plano! We have a chance of severe weather later today and Sunday. Please make sure you're staying weather aware! ⛈️👀

Bottom Line
There is a severe weather threat this evening and tonight, then again on Sunday. The primary hazards will be damaging winds and large hail.

Overview
This Morning and Afternoon
• Isolated to scattered sub-severe storms will continue, mainly across North Texas. The more robust storms could produce small hail.

This Evening & Tonight
• A cold front will stall across Central Oklahoma this evening with thunderstorms expected to develop along the boundary.
• Individual storms will grow upscale into a line and move south from Oklahoma into North Texas this evening and tonight.
• The primary threat with this activity will be damaging winds, although isolated instances of hail cannot be ruled out.
• As storms move south out of Oklahoma, they will become increasingly removed from the stronger forcing, therefore, a weakening trend is expected.
• The greatest severe weather will remain along and north of US-380.

Saturday
• Scattered storms are expected to develop near a dryline in west Texas. Some of this activity may make a run at our northwestern counties late Saturday afternoon and evening, but most of this activity will remain to our west and north.

Sunday
• A cold front will be advancing southward Sunday afternoon and evening across North and Central Texas.
• Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop near the leading edge of the cold front.
• The environment will be supportive of severe storms due to abundant instability, steep lapse rates, and sufficient deep-layer shear.
• The main hazards will be large hail along with damaging winds.

Bottom Line
There is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms today, especially this afternoon and evening associated with a cold front and dryline. More widespread thunderstorm coverage is expected later in the week with the potential for heavy rain.

Overview

Today
● Isolated storms this morning may contain a large hail threat, primarily north/northwest of the Metroplex.
● More widespread shower and thunderstorm development is expected this afternoon and evening as a cold front pushes south of the Red River and a dryline quickly advances east toward the I-35 corridor.
○ A few severe thunderstorms capable of producing very large hail, damaging winds gusts, and even a tornado or two will be possible.
○ The greatest severe threat is currently near and east of I-35 and along/north of I-20
● This thunderstorm activity will gradually spread southeastward with time, diminishing in coverage late tonight.
● Flash flooding may result locally if storm motion is slow over any particular area due to soils being fairly saturated across the region.

Rest of the Week
● Wednesday will feature mostly dry conditions with a low chance for showers and thunderstorms east of I-35 in the afternoon and early evening.
● Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late Thursday into Friday with a potential for heavy rainfall.
○ The flash flood threat will increase during this time frame because soils are saturated across the region, and the storms late in the week are expected to be very efficient rainfall producers.
○ The severe potential later in the week appears to be lower at this time, but we will continue to monitor the chances for greater instability to move northward into our forecast area.
● Below-normal temperatures with highs in the 60s and low 70s are expected into the upcoming weekend.
