Friends of Plaistow Fire - Rescue - EMS Not a government-managed page. This a private page that shares successes. We will treat property as our own and treat it accordingly.

RESPONSE
Each member is committed to respond to every call that they are physically and mentally prepared for. If a member cannot meet either the physical or mental challenges that routinely present themselves in the Fire/Rescue Service, they are obligated to restrict their activities appropriately such that they do not constitute an undue risk to the community or other members of the department.

If one cannot be a part of the solution, they will most likely become a part of the problem. RISK
Each member acknowledges that the Fire/Rescue Service poses certain hazards and risks. We are committed to minimizing those risks wherever possible and taking only those calculated risks that are absolutely necessary based on the nature of the emergency. COST
We will not engage in any activity that is a willful and deliberate means to waste material or time. We will minimize further damage to property during firefighting operations to that damage absolutely necessary to suppress the hazard or to protect exposures. ABILITY
Each member will maintain their level of knowledge to the best of their ability by attending routine training sessions offered by the department as often as possible. We will be open to new ideas and methods that may be introduced to the department. We will share our knowledge with other members of the department so that they may better serve the community. RESPECT
We will treat those we serve with dignity, respect and compassion. We will treat each other as we would like to be treated. IMAGE
We will assume that all of our actions, both departmental and personal, are open to public scrutiny and could be reported by the various media. Our apparatus and equipment will be maintained as if each call were to be a parade detail. Our name is on each piece and the visible condition of the apparatus and equipment will be a direct reflection on how we are perceived to care for that which the town provides for us.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, we also hold close the families, friends, and loved ones who carry their memory every day. May we all take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

From all of us at the Plaistow Fire Department, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and those who continue to serve.

EMS Recognition Day, observed on Friday, May 22 during EMS Week 2026, is a time to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and compassion of emergency medical services personnel across the country. It honors EMTs, paramedics, emergency communications specialists, nurses, physicians, firefighters, dispatchers, and all healthcare partners who work together to improve patient outcomes every day.

The 2026 EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the teamwork required to provide exceptional emergency care. From the first 911 call to hospital treatment and recovery, EMS professionals serve as a critical link in the healthcare system.

EMS Recognition Day reminds us that strong outcomes are not achieved alone. They are the result of collaboration between field providers, dispatch centers, emergency departments, specialty care teams, and public safety partners working together with one shared mission: delivering the highest level of care to those in need.

Today, we recognize all of the professionals who make up the “team” of emergency medical care.

Recently, two of our ALS Paramedics, Markie Boyce and Steve Dube, were recognized for saving the life of a patient who was in cardiac arrest. There couldn't be a better example for this years EMS week theme “Improving Outcomes, Together”.

EMS Week 2026 – Safety Tuesday

Safety Tuesday during EMS Week 2026 highlights the critical importance of protecting EMS professionals, patients, and the communities we serve. Every call presents unique challenges, and maintaining a culture of safety is essential to improving outcomes together — the 2026 EMS Week theme.

From the moment a 911 call is received to the transfer of care at the hospital, safety remains a shared responsibility among dispatchers, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, nurses, physicians, and support staff.

Safety Tuesday serves as a reminder that the best patient care begins with ensuring responders can operate safely and effectively.

Key areas of focus include:
-Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
-Safe driving and ambulance operations
-Scene awareness and risk assessment
-Mental health and wellness for EMS providers
-Lifting and movement injury prevention
Infection control and exposure prevention
-Ongoing training and teamwork communication

EMS professionals face physically and emotionally demanding situations every day. By prioritizing training, situational awareness, and accountability, agencies can reduce injuries, strengthen teamwork, and provide higher-quality patient care.

Safety is not just a policy — it is a commitment to one another. During EMS Week 2026, Safety Tuesday recognizes the dedication of EMS personnel and healthcare partners who work tirelessly to protect both their patients and each other.

Together, through preparation, education, and collaboration, we continue improving outcomes for every patient, every call, every day.
