A water main break occurred this morning in the area of 144 Main Street in Plaistow. The leak has been stopped at this time. Water system users may experience some discoloration and low pressure this morning while crews work to make repairs. All water remains safe for use. Town of Plaistow – 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

The Town of Plaistow is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan to identify and reduce risks from natural hazards such as winter storms, flooding, hurricanes, wildfires, and earthquakes. FEMA recommends updating this plan every five years to ensure it reflects current risks and priorities.

Residents, business, and visitors are encouraged to provide feedback to help identify concerns, prioritize mitigation actions, and improve emergency preparedness.

Plaistow Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring the incoming weather event. We are working with our local and state partners to be prepared for any emergencies that may arise.

During the next week, we ask everyone to be vigilant and check on your family, friends, and neighbors. Especially if you know that they live alone.

Anyone in NH can call 211 or visit the website for many community needs. This includes homeless shelters, payment assistance, and many more resources.

As many/all of you have heard, due to the Federal government shutdown, November SNAP benefits may be delayed.

Resources are available for people experiencing food insecurity, including city and town welfare offices and local food pantries. Granite Staters can call 211, or visit the New Hampshire Food Bank’s Food Map for a full listing of food assistance programs.

PLAISTOW, NH – Extremely hot and humid temperatures will continue today lasting through Wednesday evening. Daytime temperatures will be very hot with heat indices between 95F and 100F. A heat advisory has been issued through Wednesday at 8 PM, as temperatures and heat indices during this time are expected to be very high. Overnight temperatures in the 70’s will provide little overnight relief from daytime temperatures. Please call the Plaistow Emergency Communications Center at 603-382-1200 and ask to speak with Emergency Management if you need assistance.

PLAISTOW, NH – Extremely hot and humid temperatures will continue today lasting through Tuesday evening. Daytime temperatures will be very hot with heat indices in the low 100’s.
