Bridges of Hope, Allegan County is a 501c3 non-profit organization, founded in August 2014, whose mission is “compassionately empowering individuals to build resilient communities". We seek to establish relationships that provide encouragement, support, and resources in setting and attaining goals, so that people in poverty can rise above their circumstances, becoming economically stable and contr

ibuting to a thriving community. Our workshop approach enables participants to reflect upon and assess both themselves and their circumstances, to learn new ways of thinking about their challenges, and to set goals. All of this takes place in a safe and supportive place where they are treated as experts on their own lives, rather than being expected to passively receive information and follow customary rules. At http://www.bridgesofhopeallegancounty.org you can find more information on attending a workshop, or on supporting our organization through volunteering or giving.

In 2011, they began meeting with other concerned community members and spent 2 ½ years investigating available models for helping people move out of poverty, not just live in poverty. With the help of over 40 volunteers (and counting) that have provided transportation, food preparation, childcare, workshop facilitation, time on the Board of Directors, and more, the rest is history…
