Town Meeting is May 18: Your Voice Matters
Plainville residents are encouraged to attend the Annual Town Meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Beatrice H. Wood Elementary School, 72 Messenger Street. Town Meeting is one of the most important ways residents participate directly in local government, and your attendance helps ensure that the decisions made reflect the priorities of the community.
This year’s warrant includes a wide range of articles affecting Town services, public safety, infrastructure, schools, water and sewer systems, zoning, community preservation, and long-term financial planning. Several major items address the Town’s FY2027 operating budget and ongoing cost pressures, while others support capital needs such as roadway improvements, public safety equipment, utility upgrades, and school facility investments.
The Select Board notes that the warrant reflects a careful balance between maintaining essential services, investing in critical infrastructure, and exercising fiscal discipline, while the Finance Committee describes FY2027 as a particularly challenging budget year because of rising costs and limited revenue growth. Their letters emphasize the importance of making thoughtful choices that protect the Town’s long-term financial stability.
Among the articles are measures related to grants, Chapter 90 funding, water and sewer projects, the Community Preservation Act, revolving funds, personnel policies, zoning updates, and a citizen petition to expand the Select Board. The Town Meeting also includes a consent agenda for certain articles that are expected to move quickly, allowing more time for discussion of matters that need it most.
Residents are welcome to review the warrant in advance and come prepared to participate in the discussion and vote. Town Meeting is where Plainville’s future is shaped, and every voice counts.
The Town Meeting Warrant (the agenda) is available in booklet form at Town Hall and other municipal buildings, or may be downloaded below:
