The Town of Plainville covers an area of 9.8 square miles and is located in Hartford County, midway between New Britain and Bristol, and 14 miles southwest of Hartford. Bristol borders it on the west on the north by Farmington, on the east by New Britain and on the south by Southington. Major industries include electrical products, spring manufacturing, tool making, me

tal stamping, heavy construction and stone quarries. The level of growth in Plainville is holding firm in the area of commercial and light industrial building. Plainville has three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Board of Education is committed to improving school facilities. Linden Street Elementary School, the High School and Toffolon Elementary School have undergone extensive renovations and expansions. Plainville’s Senior Center is one of the finest centers offering programs from computer learning to exercising, serving lunches as well as delivering meals on wheels. We also have a transportation program that is coordinated through the Senior Center. Through our Housing Authority 90 units are managed for senior citizens. Plainville’s Fire Company is a volunteer department made up of 85 members. The Company is responsible for the Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival held each year in August. Thousands come from around the state to enjoy the festivities and fireworks display. Trumbull Park boasts a Little League Field, all Purpose Field and Baseball Field. Norton Park has a Girls’ Softball Diamond and a new soccer field was constructed. Berner Pool which is open mid-June to the end of August for residents and their guests to enjoy. This family aquatic center offers two water slides, a raindrop fountain and a zero depth entry tot pool. Paderewski Park is the home of the Conservation Commission’s annual fishing derby. Tomasso Nature Park offers approximately four acres of wetlands, observation areas, knolls, trails and bridges. It is home to nearly 600 painted turtles and other wildlife. The Town of Plainville has had a town manager/town council form of government since 1959. The Town Council is made up of seven members which serve two-year terms. The Board of Education is made up of nine members for four-year terms that oversee the school system which currently has an enrollment of over 2,600 students.

🏊 NORTON PARK POOL UPDATE

The Town is pleased to announce that the Elizabeth A. Berner Pool at Norton Park is now open!

We want to sincerely apologize for the delay in opening the Elizabeth A. Berner Pool at Norton Park. The delay was caused by an unforeseen maintenance issue that required immediate attention. Due to the age of the pool and the challenge of sourcing replacement parts, repairs took longer than anticipated. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding throughout this process.

Discount Season Pass Rates for 2026
Resident: $25.73
Resident Senior: $21.30
Non-resident: $87.85

This rate was calculated based on the number of hours out of the total season that was missed from June 7th through June 21st. For those who purchased a season pass before the adjusted rates were implemented, we want to thank you for your patience and support. You will receive one complimentary day pass, valued at $5, for each season pass purchased. These passes can be picked up at the pool beginning Wednesday.

Resident day passes remain $5, and Non-resident Day passes remain $15.

Queen Ann Nzinga Center Inc. and United Plainville hosted the 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 19th at Norton Park in Plainville, CT!

This free, family-friendly event brought our community together in a joyful tribute to culture, history, and unity.

Highlights included an energetic performance by Dance Fever, featuring a captivating traditional African dance, along with speeches from local voices, including Connecticut Congresswoman Rep Jahana Hayes and State Representative Rebecca Martinez. The celebration also featured diverse local vendors, creating a vibrant marketplace of community talent and entrepreneurship.

Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like Hartford HealthCare and Greater Bristol Branch of the NAACP, this event became a true celebration of community spirit and collaboration.

The Town is pleased to announce that repairs to the Elizabeth A. Berner Pool at Norton Park are on schedule, and the pool is currently being filled in preparation for the season.

Our team is finishing the final steps to prepare the pool for safe public use. We will share an opening date as soon as it is confirmed.
