Every so often we have to make a post that we wish we did not need to make.

This morning we operated at our fifth house fire in February. Thankfully no injuries were reported. Plainview and mutual aid units were under the command of Chief Cohen.

Please let me address the community - if u see a big red fire truck with flashing lights and members getting off the rig to respond, that is not the appropriate time to ask if 1) you can drive around my big red firetruck and 2) what is going on -

When we respond we are trying to carefully drive in lousy conditions and monitor multiple radio frequencies so we know what is going on at the scene and what is needed when we arrive

Secondly, to the gentleman who felt the need to yell at one of our senior members who was blocking the road (there was a fire) and questioning why there are so many trucks - we invite you to call the Firehouse non emergency line and set a time to come down and critique what you think we did incorrectly at a department meeting so we can all learn from you.

We know the Plainview FD has immense support from the community and we are very grateful for that. This is our fifth fire this month and protocols are in place to expedite response times and provide for the safety of every member on scene and operating. If traffic causes a bit of a delay or you are temporarily blocked in your driveway we apologize and always try to rectify the situation as soon as possible. HOWEVER the safety of our members (your neighbors) and those operating will take precedence.
