As part of TxDOT’s ongoing HWY 194 reconstruction project, Xcel Energy will remove existing City-owned streetlights as part of a transition to a new TxDOT-owned lighting system.
Streetlights on the following roads will be out beginning September 14th, with the new lighting expected to be activated October 15th.
HWY 194 from I-27 to SW 3rd Steet
(Quincy Street between SW 3rd to 24th)
(Dimmit HWY from 24th to I-27)
The HWY 194 (Quincy Street) project is not yet complete. Although pavement markings have been installed for safety, the final asphalt layer remains. That layer is intended to bring the roadway level with adjoining streets and parking lot entrances, addressing the approximately two-inch transitions drivers are currently experiencing.
City officials continue to coordinate with TxDOT and relay residents’ concerns as construction progresses. We recognize that these ongoing conditions have been frustrating and appreciate the community’s patience.
Please use extra caution after dark and when entering or leaving HWY 194 (Quincy Street). The City will share additional schedule information as it is confirmed with TxDOT.
