EW Howell Construction Group recently completed the Science & User Support Center (SUSC) for Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Spanning 75,000 square feet, this building serves as the main welcome center for guests, researchers, and facility users arriving at the lab. The SUSC is also the first building planned for Discovery Park, a new vision for the gateway to BNL.

Key features of the SUSC include workspace for over 250 employees, as well as space for collaboration and conferences. Last month, the BNL SUSC was recognized in the Long Island Business News 2026 Real Estate, Architecture & Engineering Awards, being honored in the Top Office Building Projects category.

Construction Safety Week 2026 is in the books, and we at EW Howell Construction Group are proud to share its rousing success! Throughout our offices and project sites, our safety culture was promoted and bolstered at all levels of our organization.

To achieve this, team members at our Plainview office received a LifeVac presentation and training in NARCAN, stop-the-bleed, and compression-only CPR. Additionally, we organized toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and other informative events across our numerous project sites.

In the 1920s, the James Averell Clark Residence was designed by architectural firm Peabody, Wilson & Brown and built by EW Howell Construction Group. Located in Westbury, NY, this was the residence of Clark, a brokerage firm partner, and his wife, Helen Hitchcock, who was the daughter of polo player Thomas Hitchcock.

Today, the residence remains a private home, as well as a historic landmark situated on Long Island’s North Shore.

We’re excited to announce that we have completed installation of the foundation for the new Air Traffic Control Center project at Francis S. Gabreski Airport! Located in Westhampton Beach, this facility will replace the existing, outdated tower, which was originally built in the 1940s. The new 8-story control tower includes office space, training areas, a break room, and equipment rooms, among other features. Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses!
