PPRFD and PCA dispatched to a vehicle accident approximately two miles up Lower Lynch Creek Rd. Male has hit a tree, but is out of the car and walking around. Some road blockage.

🔥Lumber Fire Update🔥

Date: 8/23/26
Size: 10 Acres
Location: Combest Creek

The fire is currently holding at 10 acres. Forward progression of the fire was stopped with retardant and helicopter support. Crews worked throughout the night to construct fire line and secure the fires edge.

Resources Today:

2 Engines
1 Dozer
1 Skidgen
1 Type 2 Handcrew
1 Type 1 Hotshot Crew

Please stay out of the area and let firefighters do their job. Keep in mind the fire activity seen on this fire when you are recreating or working around the house. We are still experiencing elevated fire activity, don't be part of the problem!

🔥Cherry Peak Fire🔥 Update August 18 @3:13pm:

Size estimated at 25 acres with active fire burning upslope towards an old burn scar.

Resources from the Lolo National Forest are responding to the Cherry Peak Fire on the Plains-Thompson Falls Ranger District. The fire is estimated at 10 acres, burning in steep, rugged terrain. The fire is approximately 1 mile southwest of Cherry Peak. Responding resources include two engines, two module crews, and air attack platform. A type 1 helicopter is enroute to support with a rappel crew and provide water drops. Two modules are currently working to navigate to the fire on foot.

Fire behavior includes running and single tree torching in timber. Additional air support has been requested for additional helicopters, large air tankers, SEATs, and smoke jumpers.

PPRFD dispatched down River Road West for a fire on an island that seems to be uncontained and spreading.

Update 08:26- Appears to be a false alarm, but DNRC has been notified and will continue to confirm that there is no active fire in the area.

PPRFD dispatched to the area of Mountain Spring Ln for power lines knocked down by a tree. NWEnergy has been contacted and is sending a crew as well.
