The Yoakum County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a stolen vehicle. The 1981 Ford pickup shown here was stolen between 11pm last night and 6am this morning from 17th Street in Plains. If anyone has any information about the theft or the current whereabouts of the pickup please call the Sheriff's Office.

Governor Greg Abbott issued a Stand With Law Enforcement in recognition of the one year anniversary of the attack on Dallas were 4 Dallas Police Department Officers and a Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Officer were killed. The Yoakum County Sheriff's Office Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers along with Law Enforcement agencies across the state turned on their red and blue lights and had a moment of silence at 10:00 am today.

On 03/28/2017, the Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office along with the Texas Comptrollers Criminal Investigations Division completed a two (2) month long investigation into Diesel Fuel Theft. An individual was stealing fuel from his company and transferring it to another. Both suspects were arrested and placed in the Yoakum County Jail without incident and charged with Motor Fuel Tax Violation, a Second-Degree Felony, and Theft of Property, a State Jail Felony.

Public Service Announcement:

As of today Yoakum County will be under a Burn Ban. If you are caught burning during the ban it will be punishable as a Class C Misdemeanor. This will be in effect for 90 days or until Commissioners Court deems it no longer necessary.
