Pool season is here in the City of Plainfield.

The Rushmore Aquatics Complex will officially open on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and will operate on weekends only through June 27 from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

*Seidler Field will be closed this summer for renovations*

Beginning Saturday, June 27, all City pools, including the Rushmore Aquatics Complex, will open daily with the following schedule:

Monday – Friday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Weekends: 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Residents must register through www.communitypass.net to receive a free pool membership and CommunityPass photo ID card. Even returning members from last year must obtain a new pool pass for the 2026 season.

To obtain a pool ID, residents must bring:
• Photo ID
• Proof of Residency
• School-age report card (for children)

Pool badge photos can be taken at the Division of Parks and Recreation, located at 510 Watchung Avenue:

Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Wednesday Late Hours Beginning June 3: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older.

As summer approaches, safety comes first!

Join Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, the Plainfield City Council, the Division of Parks & Recreation, and Councilwoman Terri Briggs-Jones for a Water Safety Education event.

Thursday, June 25, 2026
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Rushmore Pool-1401–1503 W. 3rd Street

Families and residents of all ages are invited to learn simple, lifesaving water safety tips, including awareness of water risks, prevention strategies, emergency preparedness, and ways safety can help save lives. No registration is required, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Get ready for lifeguard season with the City of Plainfield’s Pre-Lifeguard Training and Lifeguarding Class programs host...

Get ready for lifeguard season with the City of Plainfield’s Pre-Lifeguard Training and Lifeguarding Class programs hosted by Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, the Division of Parks & Recreation, and the Plainfield City Council.

Pre-Lifeguard Training takes place on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Plainfield High School and is designed to help participants prepare for the lifeguard course pre-requisites through conditioning, timed rescue practice, and treading water exercises.

Training focuses include:
• Conditioning (12 lap swim)
• Timed Rescue (10 lb brick retrieval)
• Treading Water

Cost: $25 for Plainfield residents

Participants can then continue their training by registering for the official Lifeguarding Class at Hannah Atkins Pool, located at 508 W. 3rd Street.

Lifeguarding Class Schedule:
• Monday, June 8 – Friday, June 12: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday, June 13 (Exam Day): 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Participant Requirements:
• Must be 15 years old by exam day
• Must complete 12 laps
• Must tread water for 2 minutes
• Must retrieve a 10 lb object from the bottom of the pool
• Must complete a timed water rescue

Cost: $50 for Plainfield residents
