Tom Moore was promoted to the rank of Major as he officially assumes his new role as the ILEA Basic Course Commander.
Tom is a proven leader and will help lead ILEA into the next phase of our training journey. Tom was recognized at a ceremony at ILEA today. He assumes the role previously held by Mark Bridge who will be retiring July 1, 2026.

Deputy Samuelson of the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, who was injured by gunfire in the line of duty last week, spent his 33rd birthday recovering in the hospital. He had planned to mark the occasion by running 33 cumulative miles. ILEA students, staff & family came together on May 28, 2026, to complete a tribute run in his honor. Before the run began, students joined a live phone call📱 with Deputy Samuelson, offering encouragement and letting him hear firsthand the support behind him.

Here’s to 33+ miles for 33 years, and to his continued healing and recovery! 🎉

*Deputy Jon Samuelson graduated with the 206th Basic Session in 2015. Each participant did a mile or more for Deputy Samuelson.
