New Jersey Flag Lowering Notification
Friday, September 11, 2026 — All Flags Half-Staff

Governor Sherrill Directs the Lowering of U.S. and New Jersey Flags in Honor of the Victims of September 11, 2001

Governor Mikie Sherrill today signed Executive Order No. 23, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Friday, September 11, 2026, in recognition and in mourning of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. 25 years ago, approximately 750 New Jerseyans were among those killed in the attacks. In the aftermath, thousands of first responders and other New Jerseyans answered the call to help save lives and recover those lost. In the years since, many have developed health complications or lost their lives from rescue and recovery efforts.

“Twenty-five years later, we remember the New Jerseyans and everyone whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001, and we stand with the families who continue to carry their loss,” said Governor Sherrill. “As a young Naval Officer that day, I witnessed our country confront unimaginable tragedy, but I also saw the extraordinary courage of the first responders and service members who answered the call. We made a promise to never forget those we lost, and New Jersey will always keep that promise.”

This Order shall take effect immediately.

I'm a Plainfield Councilwoman, of course I shop locally.

Many would like a big grocer, and I support that. However, I'm thankful for the speciality markets we have that cater to a host of cultural needs. ,

The primary election was in June 2026, yet it's Sept 6th, and signs remain throughout our city. (photos were taked on 9/6). These are not on private property and have been left by candidates that dont reside in our city. This is why I sponsored MC2026-25, which was approved unanimously by my council colleagues. I believe we can support the right of everyone to engage in the political process AND require people to keep our city clean at the same time.

MC2026-25 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLAINFIELD TO ESTABLISH ARTICLE VIII, “CAMPAIGN AND SPECIAL EVENT ADVERTISING,” CONSISTING OF 14-80 THROUGH 14-85.
