Village of Plain City, Ohio

Village of Plain City, Ohio Plain City is a vibrant and rapidly growing community of 4,313 residents located in Madison and Union Counties, Ohio, just northwest of Columbus.

๐ŸŒพ Welcome to Plain City โ€” a proud, modern-rural community where people and businesses come to thrive.
๐Ÿ“ฒ Sharing Village news, events, and services.
๐Ÿ“ž For specific matters, please contact the Village offices at 614-873-3527. A community of rich agricultural heritage, Plain City is known for its small town charm, thriving historic Uptown District, safe neighborhoods, scenic prairie vistas, and excel

lent educational system. But perhaps, Plain City is best known for its Mennonite background and related businesses like The Der Dutchman, which attracts thousands of visitors annually. Plain City is located on the banks of the Big Darby Creek State and National Scenic River, which is noted for its tremendous biodiversity and abundance of aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals. This biodiversity has led to the Big Darby being designated a State and National Scenic River. While Plain City is characterized by its historic โ€œVillage Districtโ€, the community has witnessed extensive residential growth during the past decade. New residential developments, such as Darby Fields, Darby Station, Madison Meadows, The Hamlet on Darby, The Run at Hofbauer Preserve, and others, have been the genesis of extensive population growth and suburban transformation. This growth, together with Plain Cityโ€™s prime location near Interstate 270 and US-33, has made Plain City particularly attractive for future commercial and industrial growth. Community leaders are making strategic investments and executing development plans to ensure that Plain City continues to grow in a smart and sustainable fashion.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ โ€œRemember and Honorโ€ was the theme of the 2026 Plain City Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony held Monday morning. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Hosted by American Legion Plain City Post 248, the annual tradition began at Pastime Park and traveled through Plain City with ceremonial stops at Darby Township Cemetery, the Cemetery Pike bridge, and Forest Grove Cemetery, where the community gathered for the Memorial Day ceremony.

โœจ Mayor of Plain City Jody Carney offered opening remarks, followed by performances from the Jonathan Alder High School Band, wreath presentations, and honors from local veterans organizations and scouts.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Guest speaker Major General (Ret.) Deborah Ashenhurst reflected on the sacrifices of fallen service members and encouraged everyone to always remember their service and sacrifice.

โ€œFreedom is as familiar as the air we breathe here in America, but this is not the case for many around the world," said Ashenhurst. "We should remember that this came at a cost.โ€

๐Ÿ‘ A special thank you to the participating organizations, including the local Boy Scouts, the Daughters of the American Revolution, veterans groups, volunteers, and everyone who attended to help make this a meaningful day of remembrance for our community.
