✨ Monday night’s Village Council meeting was a powerful reminder of what makes Plain City such a special community! We had the privilege of honoring neighbors whose dedication, service, and commitment reflect the very best of who we are.

📚We were especially proud to recognize Linda Thompson for her extraordinary 35-year career with the Jonathan Alder Local School District. Since beginning her work at Plain City Elementary in 1991, Linda has served our students and staff with unwavering dedication—working as a Teacher’s Aide, Technology Aide, and Secretary.

Her integrity, consistency, and heart for service have left a lasting legacy in our schools. It was an honor to proclaim May 11, 2026, as a day of celebration in her honor within the Village of Plain City, Ohio.

We also proudly recognized three outstanding students as they prepare to begin their service in the United States Armed Forces:

⚓ Victoria Bobrova – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) at The Ohio State University
🚢 Kailey Miller – United States Merchant Marine Academy
✈️ Camden Overmyer – United States Air Force

Their courage and commitment to serve represent the very best of the next generation.

On behalf of the Village of Plain City, thank you, Linda, for your decades of dedication, and thank you, Victoria, Kailey, and Camden, for your willingness to serve our country. We are incredibly proud of you all! 🇺🇸👏

PCABA held the annual Opening Day parade and ceremony this chilly morning!

What a wonderful tradition we have in our town. As resident Scott Hilbert stated in his opening remarks and prayer, many try to replicate this feeling and atmosphere, but we get to live and raise our kids this way.

Stop out to Pastime Park and catch a game this spring and summer. ⚾️ 🥎

Thank you to PCABA for all the hard work that was put into getting ready for the season. We appreciate our partnership for the youth of our town!

The Plain City Lions Club hosts a benefit dinner and auction every April. The organization supports so many endeavors for our community and its impact affects all ages. For the past three years I have donated a “Lunch with the Mayor” as an auction item, and I’ve had the privilege of having some great conversations with community members about Plain City!

The first year we did not get a picture, but Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mitchell were the auction bidders in 2024. I had their grandsons in my class during my Agriculture Education/FFA career.

In 2025, Mr. and Mrs. Brent and Claudia Hostetler won the lunch, and we talked about the growing of our community. Brent is a local farmer and he was one of my Madison County Farm Bureau board members when I was an Organization Director for Ohio Farm Bureau.

Today I got to meet Mr. Grant Phipps, who is a 2016 graduate of Jonathan Alder Local School District, and Mr. Bill Evans, both represent and work for Auction Ohio. We had great conversations about leadership, what is happening in central Ohio, and how to build consensus and communication in local communities.

Mark your calendar for next April and plan to attend the Lions Club dinner and auction. This was just a small way to give back to a local organization, but it’s been a great way to talk about our community and share the joys and hardships of local government!

Arbor Day is a celebration for what trees provide to our lives! 🌳 Yesterday I helped the 1st graders of Plain City Elementary School plant a tree and helped recognize the art contest class winners with an ice cream party in the afternoon. The grade level winners art work is currently on display at the Village of Plain City, Ohio Municipal Building

Today I celebrated Arbor Day with many residents, village staff, and local business volunteers to plant 75 trees at our newest Park at Sugar Run. It was a beautiful day, and we are excited to see this park come to fruition for our community!
