On Wednesday, June 10th during the City of Placerville Adult Softball League a participant experienced a medical emergency and staff coordinated immediately with responders and family to address the situation. City Council, Staff and volunteers send our heartfelt prayers to the family during this difficult time. We understand many have questions or concerns, however, out of respect for our participating families and close friends no details or specific information will be shared. May peace be with them while they overcome this season.

🏳️‍🌈 June 2026 is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in Placerville 🏳️‍🌈

Mayor Gotberg presented the proclamation at last night's council meeting reaffirming the values of liberty, equality, freedom of expression, and the pursuit of happiness for all people. Inspired by leaders such as Marsha P. Johnson, it honors the ongoing work to build a community where everyone can live free from discrimination and prejudice.

Placerville honors the diverse identities of its residents, visitors, and employees, recognizing that inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity strengthen our community and help everyone thrive.

🚧Construction Update 🚧

The City of Placerville will begin construction of the Thompson Way, Sheridan Street, and Sherman Street Paving Projects on June 22, 2026. The first phase of work will start on Sherman and Sheridan Streets and is tentatively scheduled to continue through mid-July. During that time, Washington Street, Turner Street, Sherman Street, and a portion of Sheridan Street will be closed to through traffic – access will be provided to residents and businesses on these streets, but please anticipate delays. Through traffic will be detoured around the work zone to Main Street, Cedar Ravine Road, Marshall Way, Corker Street, and South Washington Street.

Motorists are advised to slow down, follow the direction of traffic control, and allow extra time when traveling in this area. The City of Placerville sincerely appreciates your cooperation and patience while we complete this project.

Heads up if you usually park near City Hall! The small Center St. Parking Lot (located directly across from City Hall) will be temporarily closed for scheduled maintenance:

🐝 Seeing thousands of bees in Placerville? Don’t panic—help is free!

It is officially spring swarm season across California. This is a completely natural process where a honey bee colony splits and looks for a new home. You might suddenly see a large cluster of bees hanging out in a tree, on a fence, or even on a porch. While it can look intimidating, swarming bees are actually at their most docile because they have no hive or honey to protect.

If you see a swarm in the Placerville area, you don’t need to call animal control or emergency dispatch. Instead, connect with Swarmed!

👉 What to do:
Keep a safe distance and leave them alone.
Visit https://beeswarmed.org/ to report the swarm.
A local beekeeper will be dispatched to safely move them to a secure new home.
