⚠️ Earlier this evening, a large boulder was reported in the roadway on US-50 near the 39 milestone, creating a serious hazard for motorists.

Officers responded to the scene, where a Good Samaritan assisted with safely removing the boulder from the roadway. Traffic is no longer impacted.

🚗 Safety Reminder: If you see roadway hazards or debris, slow down, move over when safe, and report it to CHP or 9-1-1. Never put yourself at risk in traffic lanes.

🚨 Parents: This Is Your Responsibility 🚨

E-motorcycles and modified e-bikes may look fun—but many are illegal for juveniles to operate and capable of dangerous speeds.

Recent cases show the consequences don’t stop with the rider. Parents are being held accountable. As one report stated, “Because his parent provided it to him.”

And the stakes are real: “if convicted she could spend up to six years in prison.”

💡 If you allow it, you can own it—criminally and civilly.

Talk to your kids. Know what they’re riding. Stop it before it turns into a tragedy.

🚨 Parents: Know the Difference. Know Your Responsibility. 🚨

Not all e-bikes are the same—and some cross the line into illegal, high-speed motor vehicles that juveniles cannot legally operate.

✔️ Legal options: Class 1 & 2 e-bikes (pedal assist or throttle, max 20 mph)
⚠️ Illegal for minors: Modified e-bikes and e-motorcycles capable of much higher speeds

Recent cases show that when a child crashes, parents can be held criminally and civilly liable—especially when they’ve been warned and still allow it.

💡 If you provide it, you’re responsible for how it’s used.

Have the conversation. Set limits. Choose legal, safer options.

🚨 Parents: This Is Your Wake-Up Call 🚨

A Southern California mother is now facing felony charges after her 14-year-old son, riding an illegal e-motorcycle, critically injured an 81-year-old man.

This isn’t just about reckless riding anymore—it’s about criminal responsibility.

Here in El Dorado County, we are seeing the same dangerous trend:
• Youth fleeing from officers
• Reckless, high-speed riding on public roads
• Illegal e-motorcycles in neighborhoods

And too often, we hear: “We didn’t know.”

Knowing matters. Being involved matters. Parenting matters.

If you are buying or allowing your child to ride one of these vehicles, you need to understand the law—and the consequences.

👉 Read the full press release to see how quickly this can turn into a life-changing tragedy—for everyone involved.
