**Storm Threat Message**

Properties in and adjacent to the burn area of the Caldor Fire, as well as downstream from the burn area, are at high risk for flash flooding, debris flow, or mudslides. Areas that receive accumulated snow fall may be at higher risk for avalanche. Be vigilant and be prepared with a plan for evacuation or to self-sustain should you need to shelter in place. If your residence has only one route for evacuation, you may consider temporarily relocating. This weather event is anticipated to continue through Tuesday, October 26. Thank you and be safe.

We are not immune from disasters... in whatever form they may take.

Rather, we are tangled, knotted, and tied to each other. Which makes it our responsibility to be prepared. Disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year, each with lasting effects to people, property and the environment.
Each of us has a role to play in helping protect each other.
Are we prepared for that?

Good Friday Morning!

Our friends at the US National Weather Service Sacramento California tell us that today's air quality forecast shows moderate to unhealthy conditions as wildfire smoke is expected to impact much of interior NorCal.
View air quality details for your location. Visit fire.airnow.gov.
El Dorado County Air Quality Management District advises us that drift smoke from the wildfires outside of our County has moved in to El Dorado County. You can check current PM 2.5 (particulate matter) conditions by using the Purple Air network of sensors: https://www.purpleair.com/map?opt=1/mAQI/a10/cC5 #9.49/38.782/-120.6252

Planning a Trip with Family or Friends?

Reduce the spread of COVID-19 before, during and after you travel by making informed decisions that will protect your fellow travelers.

• Getting vaccinated prevents severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever.
• The CDC recommends delaying travel until you are able to get fully vaccinated. If you are traveling with children who cannot get vaccinated at this time, follow recommendations for unvaccinated people & choose safer travel options.
• Before you go, check the CDC's Travel Planner for COVID-19-related guidance for your destination and the communities on your way.
• Share the information with your fellow adventurers:

You don’t have to do this alone.

Sure, it’s nice to talk to a best friend when it comes to your concerns or questions about COVID-19 vaccinations. But getting accurate & reliable information is always the key to staying safe & healthy when it comes to any sort of disaster situation, including a pandemic.
If you have questions or feel unsure about getting a COVID-19 vaccination, first talk with your medical provider to get your questions and concerns answered. Get informed TODAY, not tomorrow.

Stay

⚠️The US National Weather Service Sacramento California tell us that the Red Flag Warning has been expanded for portions of Northern California for this afternoon - tomorrow evening. Breezy winds & extremely dry conditions will create critical fire weather conditions.
Thanks to our friends at Tahoe Living With Fire for the excellent graphic about what Red Flag Warnings mean and what we should be prepared to do.

Life Lessons

Children who have learned about emergency preparedness experience less anxiety during an actual disaster or emergency. But they will still be looking to you and other caring adults for help. How you react to an emergency gives them clues on how to respond.
