🚂 UNION PACIFIC BIG BOY 4014 ADVISORY 🚂

The historic Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 will be passing through our area on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

The train will stop briefly in Pittston; however, the Reading & Northern Railroad Yard will NOT be open to the public. Increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected in the Pittston Junction neighborhood, particularly along North Main Street, as spectators gather to view the train.

⚠️ Pedestrians will NOT be permitted to stand along the southbound shoulder of North Main Street. Please follow all instructions from officers on scene.

• Railroad tracks, bridges, and rights-of-way are private property.
• Walking, standing, or taking photos on the tracks is illegal and dangerous.

• Keep roadways and emergency access routes clear.

Throughout the early months of 2026, the Pittston City Special Investigation Unit initiated a narcotics investigation into a male suspect who was identified as Albert Kachinsky, of Pittston City. The investigation consisted of Albert Kachinsky distributing methamphetamine throughout the City of Pittston and neighboring communities. Multiple control purchases of methamphetamine were made which led to the approval of a search warrant for his residence. This search warrant was executed Thursday, May 28th 2026, at 15 Howley Circle, Pittston City.

Distribution amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, crack co**in, and prescription narcotics along with packaging material were seized from inside the residence. Albert Kachinsky, was taken into custody and charged with four counts of Manufacturing, Delivering, or Possession with intent to Manufacture or Deliver a controlled substance. Albert was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel O'Donnell and a $25,000 straight bail was set.

The Pittston City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit initiated a narcotics investigation in February 2025 into Gregory Shah Johnson of Kingston. The investigation revealed that Johnson was distributing ma*****na and methamphetamine throughout Luzerne County.

As part of the investigation, multiple controlled purchases of ma*****na and methamphetamine were conducted. As a result, an arrest warrant was obtained for Johnson.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Johnson was taken into custody by the Pittston City Police Department. He has been charged with three (3) counts of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled Substance, and three (3) counts of Criminal Use of a Communication Facility.

Johnson was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz, who set bail at $100,000.

Assisting agencies included the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, Kingston Police Department, and Wilkes-Barre Police Department.

All Residents and visitors of the City of Pittston,
Given the impending storm and out of an overabundance of caution, the City of Pittston is restricting parking on South and North Main St. from Market St. to William St. from 8pm Sunday until Monday 8pm.

Thank you for your cooperation. With any luck, we will hopefully lift the ban early given the outcome of the storm.
