Our Story
The MassHire Berkshire Youth Department offers a variety of services to at-risk youth throughout all 32 cities and towns within the Berkshires. Please refer to the list below for brief descriptions of our programs. Contact 413-499-2220 Ext 145 for additional questions. · HiSET, GED Test Preparation Serving out-of-school-youth we offer up to 20 hours per week of tutoring so that enrolled youth can earn their high school credential. In addition, those eligible will receive job search assistance, professional training, and other support services. When ready, we pay for the exam which is administerred at Berkshire Comminity College. · Young Parent Program Young parents from the ages of 14 to 24 can benefit from the above HiSET/ GED Test Preparation in addition to child care vouchers and transitional assistance, among other support services. · Youth Works Summer Program When funding is available during the summer, eligible youth are offered the opportunity to work 125 hours in a paid internship, recieve 15 hours of PAID work readiness and workplace safety training, develop job skills, earn work experience, and potentially gain extended employment. · Internship and Trainings (Post HiSET, GED or High School Diploma) PAID 100 hour internship and services that provide labor market and employment information about the industry sectors or occupations in the local area. Training is available for a specific occupation or career! · Work Readiness Certificates Offered weekly, students are provided soft skills modules, with the opportunity to learn skills and techniques on different aspects of the workplace. There are 20 different rotating modules, which means, 20 different certificates to be earned!
