"Every day, Danielle helps children with complex medical and developmental needs find stability in uncertain circumstances. But one case in particular followed her home." As we wrap up foster care awareness month, we revisit stories that have changed lives. Read more about Danielle's journey here.💙💚https://www.pressleyridge.org/stories/danielles-story/

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the lives of those who served and sacrificed.

As communities come together today, we recognize the importance of reflection, gratitude and connection. Taking time to honor this day reminds us of the values of service, care and commitment that shape stronger communities.

At Pressley Ridge, we honor Memorial Day with respect and gratitude.🤍💙

Behind every number is a child facing a big change and a family navigating uncertainty.

Moments like these can feel overwhelming, and support matters. Stability, care and connection can help children and families move forward during times of uncertainty.

"At the start of services, he was combative and resistant. He didn’t want to engage and assumed I was just another person there to judge or punish him. It took patience, consistency, and a lot of effort to show him that I wasn’t there to get him in trouble or report every minor mistake to his Probation Officer. I wanted him to understand that my role was to support him—not punish him.” Read more about Tyler’s experience here https://www.pressleyridge.org/news/why-it-matters/

Pressley Ridge Foster Care- Western PA was honored to be part of the 2nd Annual Allegheny County CYF Foster Care Honorary Luncheon, recognizing 26 incredible foster families who open their hearts and homes to children in need.

We were especially proud to celebrate the Caudill-Wink and Church-Lieb families, who foster with Pressley Ridge and exemplify the compassion and commitment that change lives.

We’re grateful to stand alongside our partners in honoring these families and raising awareness about the ongoing need for foster care in our community. 💙💚

One of the most powerful parts of fostering with Pressley Ridge is knowing you’re not alone. Pressley Ridge creates connections to community not just through staff support, but by bringing foster families together in meaningful ways.

For many LGBTQ+ foster parents, finding community can be especially challenging. At our Breakfast with Santa during the holidays, a few families met and connected instantly. That spark turned into a group chat, regular get togethers and a space to share triumphs and frustrations with people who truly understand life as q***r foster parents.

The result has been a strong sense of belonging for parents and friendships for their kids. This is what true community looks like. 💙

Ms. Denise Patterson has devoted her life to making a significant and meaningful impact on children in care. Recognizing vulnerable children who have experienced abuse and lacked appropriate support for their emotional and physical needs, Ms. Patterson felt a calling. She prayed to God asking for guidance.

In 2021 she became a foster parent of an 11-day old baby girl that was born addicted to drugs and suffering from withdrawals though the detox process, who she later adopted.

August of 2024, she received a call about a 5-year-old boy who was removed from a foster home failing to provide for his needs. This child requires extensive daily living and medial support. Ms. Patterson knew the personal sacrifices, emotional and physical toll as her daughter also has special needs but did not blink an eye.

She has voluntarily and joyfully taken on sleepless nights, meets continuous daily needs, weekly therapies, specialist appointments and tirelessly advocates for their educational needs, regardless of roadblocks or opposition.

Nolan reciprocates Ms. Patterson’s affection the best of his ability, expressing "I love you too," with a loving and adoring look in his eyes, squeezing of her hand and sounds of laughter and happiness when she talks to him.

Ms. Patterson has not only changed the course for children but inspires those around her by demonstrating dedication, perseverance, endurance, and a love for others that can move mountains.

Ms. Patterson is a TRUE Champion for children in Foster Care and TFCN thanks her for her dedication to each and every child who she cares for. Thank you Ms. Patterson! You are one of a kind! 💙💚
