Ms. Denise Patterson has devoted her life to making a significant and meaningful impact on children in care. Recognizing vulnerable children who have experienced abuse and lacked appropriate support for their emotional and physical needs, Ms. Patterson felt a calling. She prayed to God asking for guidance.
In 2021 she became a foster parent of an 11-day old baby girl that was born addicted to drugs and suffering from withdrawals though the detox process, who she later adopted.
August of 2024, she received a call about a 5-year-old boy who was removed from a foster home failing to provide for his needs. This child requires extensive daily living and medial support. Ms. Patterson knew the personal sacrifices, emotional and physical toll as her daughter also has special needs but did not blink an eye.
She has voluntarily and joyfully taken on sleepless nights, meets continuous daily needs, weekly therapies, specialist appointments and tirelessly advocates for their educational needs, regardless of roadblocks or opposition.
Nolan reciprocates Ms. Patterson’s affection the best of his ability, expressing "I love you too," with a loving and adoring look in his eyes, squeezing of her hand and sounds of laughter and happiness when she talks to him.
Ms. Patterson has not only changed the course for children but inspires those around her by demonstrating dedication, perseverance, endurance, and a love for others that can move mountains.
Ms. Patterson is a TRUE Champion for children in Foster Care and TFCN thanks her for her dedication to each and every child who she cares for. Thank you Ms. Patterson! You are one of a kind! 💙💚
