🇺🇸🇩🇪 What happens when Pennsylvania and North Rhine-Westphalia bring their business communities together?

New connections, shared ideas and opportunities to strengthen transatlantic collaboration.

Our President, Rachel Mauer, represented the German American Chamber of Commerce Pittsburgh Chapter at the Pennsylvania–NRW Business Roundtable in Düsseldorf, bringing a Pittsburgh perspective to the conversation on strengthening business ties between the two regions.

The roundtable brought together companies, government representatives and economic stakeholders from Pennsylvania and North Rhine-Westphalia to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration across industries. Topics included investment, market access, industrial transformation, green technologies, workforce development, research and innovation.

With Pennsylvania and NRW sharing a long-standing economic relationship and strong connections across industries, the discussion highlighted the many opportunities to build on these ties and create new connections between businesses and organizations on both sides of the Atlantic.

🎶 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra European Tour 2026 | Vienna 🇦🇹

What a memorable evening in Vienna!

Our President, Rachel Mauer, joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s European Tour in Vienna, beginning with a walk through the heart of the city and Stephansplatz before arriving at the Wiener Konzerthaus.

The evening continued with a special reception at the Konzerthaus, featuring welcome remarks from U.S. Ambassador to Austria Arthur Fisher and DCED Secretary Rick Siger.

The highlight of the evening was, of course, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s performance. The orchestra received enormous applause from the audience, followed by a well-deserved encore to close out an unforgettable night.

A wonderful celebration of Pittsburgh’s international connections, culture, and the strong ties between Pennsylvania and Europe. 🇺🇸🇦🇹🎻

Did you know?

German companies have 856 locations and employ 41,157 people across Pennsylvania! 🇩🇪🤝🇺🇸

That makes Germany #2 for the total number of firms and #3 for total jobs among foreign countries represented in Pennsylvania in 2025.

These numbers highlight just how strong the German-American business community is in our region - and how important these connections are to Pennsylvania’s economy.
As the GACC Pittsburgh Chapter, together with the GACC Philadelphia Chapter, we’re excited to help strengthen and grow this network, support German companies in our region, and build even more opportunities for German American business partnerships. 💼🌎

Did you know Pittsburgh was just named “the most dynamic city in America”? 🖤💛

A recent Esquire feature takes a closer look at how Pittsburgh transformed itself from a former steel powerhouse into one of America’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving cities.

In “Pittsburgh Might Just Be the Most Dynamic City in America,” author Michael Clinton, a Pittsburgh native, explores the city’s transformation after the collapse of the steel industry. Published in Esquire on August 19, 2026, the 15-minute read highlights Pittsburgh’s growing strength in technology, robotics, healthcare, education, culture, entrepreneurship, and the arts - while celebrating the people and communities that continue to shape the region.

As any proud Yinzer knows, Pittsburgh has never truly rusted away. It has reinvented itself.

And as the German American Chamber of Commerce, Pittsburgh Chapter, we are proud to contribute to the growth of the Pittsburgh region by strengthening U.S.-German business connections, supporting workforce development, connecting companies, and creating opportunities for German and American businesses to grow together.

Read Michael Clinton’s full article in Esquire to discover how Pittsburgh pulled it off.
