At approximately 10:35 p.m., Pittsburgh Bureau of Police zone 5 officers responded to the 5400 block of Baywood Street for a one-round ShotSpotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a single gunshot wound to the ankle and immediately rendered aid. No actor was located on scene.

Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

It's fawn season! Animal Care & Control officers have recently received many calls regarding fawns that residents believe have been abandoned.

Please leave fawns alone. Human intervention will only hurt a fawn's chances of survival. Never touch, feed, or move a fawn unless it is next to an injured or dead doe.

Important Facts to Keep in Mind:
▪️ Mother deer typically return to their fawns late at night or early in the morning to feed them.
▪️ Moving a fawn makes it difficult for the mother to find it. This can lead to permanent abandonment and death for the fawn.
▪️ Mother deer are often nearby and may charge humans to protect their young.

Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 900 block of Sawmill Run Blvd. before midnight for a three-vehicle crash.

Medics assisted one person with wrist pain and another with back pain.

One of the vehicles hit the gas station convenience store and caused extensive damage to the building. The vehicle also hit the gas meter and started to leak gas. The gas company responded to shut it off, but additional crews will be needed to fix/replace the meter.

Inspectors from PLI responded to the scene to evaluate the structural integrity of the building.

The crash investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Police located an unresponsive male on the ground in the parking lot of a business in the 5700 block of Forward Ave. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics. His injuries are consistent with being run over by a vehicle.

One female is currently in custody and being interviewed at police headquarters.

The Mobile Crime Unit is processing evidence at the location, and Violent Crime Unit detectives will be leading the investigation.

At ~ 10:45 p.m., EMS, Fire, and Police were dispatched to Route 51 at Edgebrook for a single vehicle collision into a pole. The driver and passenger were heavily entrapped.

Crews from EMS Rescue 2 removed the driver’s side door to remove the patient. Medic 12 transported him in serious but stable condition.

The passenger side of the vehicle was found to be too damaged and deformed to open. The rescue crew pivoted to a roof removal with the assistance of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Engine 28.

Once the patient could be accessed, it was found that her lower extremities were trapped by the collapsed dashboard. Rescue 2 performed a dash roll and crews were able to remove the passenger through the pathway on the driver’s side.

Medic 5 transported her in serious but stable condition.

Police will investigate the cause of the crash.

At ~ 10:35 p.m, SWAT, EMS tactical medics, and negotiators responded to the 1600 block of Hatteras St. for a domestic robbery after which the male actor barricaded himself inside a residence.

The female victim suffered some abrasions during the incident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The male eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

He faces additional charges for the robbery.

UPDATE: A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with this incident. He was charged as a juvenile.
The victim’s condition has been upgraded to stable in the hospital.

Original post:

At 4:50 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 responded to S. St. Clair and Eva St. for reports of a male who was assaulted at that location by multiple individuals.

Arriving units located an adult male who was unconscious and not breathing. Officers and medics provided CPR to the victim until he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The Crime Scene Unit and Violent Crime Unit detectives processed the scene and spoke with witnesses.

Several males of unknown age were detained for questioning and transported to headquarters for questioning.

The investigation is ongoing.
