The moment surplus food becomes available, the clock starts ticking.
Our Operations Team is already asking: Where can this go? Which nonprofit partner can receive it? Who can get it out into the community quickly?
Each year, around 650 food donors provide surplus food, 1,180 active volunteers help keep it moving, and our fleet team completes 29,000 rescues across Southwestern Pennsylvania.
At the center of where that food goes are nearly 520 nonprofit partners, organizations already embedded in their communities that know how to get good food to the people they serve.
412 Food Rescue isn’t a traditional food bank. We mobilize food. Our food donors, volunteers, fleet team and nonprofit partners work together to move good food quickly and get it where it can make an immediate impact.
Take a look at the roadmap above to follow the journey of a food rescue, from surplus food, to pickup, to one of our nonprofit partners and, ultimately, into the community.
