New steps have arrived! The Englert Street Steps collaboration between the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure and the Department of Public Works wrapped-up just in time for some warmer weather! These steps provide important access to the Overbrook Seniors Center and are now significantly easier to navigate.
Last fall, the city steps on Englert Street between Fairland and Dartmore Streets were severely damaged when a tree fell onto the structure, destroying multiple landings and sections of the steps beyond repair.
Public Works' Forestry Division coordinated the removal of the fallen tree, as well as several additional high-risk trees in the area. Following evaluation, it was determined that the steps would be reconstructed as on-grade steps, with the work completed by Baiano Construction. Public Works' iron workers were able to install the railings in-house with significant savings.
