First Food and Friends is a program of First Charities Inc, a 501(c)(3) organization First Food and Friends is a participating member of the greater Pittsbrugh Community Food Bank. Plus, we are honored that our hospitality is made possible in part by generous weekly donations of bread and other baked goods by the Giant Eagle Corporation. In 2011 First Food and Friends served an average of 171 meals to individuals in need every Saturday afternoon for a total of 8,000 meals. We are the only Saturday afternoon feeding program in the entire East End of Pittsburgh - serving the communities of Bloomfield, Lawrenceville, the Hill District, East Liberty, Friendship, Garfield, Morningside, Shadyside, and other surrounding neighborhoods
If you would like to help a friend in need there are several ways you can assist us. First Food and Friends is always in need of individuals and groups to help prepare and serve meals. Without volunteers sich as yourself we would not be able to accomplishour wonderful mission. The greated need, however, is financial support. Your generous donations will continue to provide hospitality and warm meals to the people we serve every week.
