He would often commit to a new placement and then change his mind due to mental health struggles. Through the combination of advocacy by Nick’s Supports Coordinator and Nick’s self-determination, medication changes were made, allowing Nick to think more clearly and confidently. CLIENT CORNER! Faith* suffered the unexpected loss of one of her parents. Faith was recommended to begin services through a local youth grief therapy provider, but there were no immediate openings. Faith began meeting with one of Familylinks’ school-based therapists. During these meetings, Faith was able to learn and utilize therapeutic techniques to manage her grief as well as general life and school stressors. Faith transferred successfully once her new provider became available; she was able to do so with a solid foundation of skills that she built with her Familylinks therapist. *Names and images do not represent actual clients of Familylinks.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT! This week, we congratulate Kassandra Collins, Human Resources Manager, and Ryan Johnson, Associate Director of Youth and Family Services, for successfully completing the Leadership Fellows program. For their final project, the Leadership Capstone Project, Ryan and Kassie developed a streamlined onboarding and training process to ensure new managers receive the information and support they need to successfully lead their teams.

CLIENT CORNER! Max* suffered from severe social anxiety that prohibited him from trying many new activities. His Supports Coordinator shared that he was able to work through his nervousness and complete his orientation at the Sally and Howard Levin Clubhouse recently. Max stated that by facing his fears, he had a great time and “felt like a brand-new Max.” He stated that he is excited to go back, continue working on his cooking skills, and learn more about his new friends. *Names and images do not represent actual clients of Familylinks.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT! Sonia Datta is an Engagement Specialist for our Adolescent Semi-Independent Living facility and has been with us for one year. As an Engagement Specialist, Sonia equips at-risk youth with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in their physical and mental health, careers, and interpersonal relationships. Sonia enjoys seeing the growth in the individuals she works with and celebrates each milestone with them. In her free time, Sonia loves spending time with family and tending to her rose garden, which contains fifteen rose bushes.
