Everyone is Family

In memrory of Chief Bill Plunkett

Through flashing lights and sirens' wail,
Bill stood steadfast, calm yet hale.
Not just a leader, but a guide,
With open heart and arms spread wide.

From classrooms where young minds would grow,
To saving lives through ice and snow,
He walked the path with steady grace,
A guardian of the human race.

"EMS is simple," he would say,
"Treat them like family, come what may."
And with that wisdom, deep and true,
He built a team to serve and do—

Fresh, devoted, strong, and bright,
Bound by love, not just the night.
Through every call, through every test,
Bill taught them how to give their best.

Even when the pager ceased to chime,
Bill still gave counsel, still gave time.
Retired yet never truly gone,
His voice and lessons still live on.

Now silent hands fold at rest,
A life well lived—a heart expressed.
But in the echoes of his creed,
His love still flows in word and deed.

So when the sirens start to cry,
Look to the stars up in the sky.
For there, he watches, bold and free
In every heartbeat, in every plea.

Bill Plunkett’s light won’t dim or stray,
Because in kindness—he still stays.

Rest easy, Chief, no need to fear,
We’ve got it from here.

We’ll treat them like family, just as you taught,
On every call, with every thought.

From all your Family at Baldwin Paramedic Rescue IAFF local 4852.
