We don’t want any of our neighbors going hungry. We have even had monetary donations from as far away as Germany!

The Northside Food Pantry Advisors (FPA) is a group of not only Northside neighbors, but neighbors from all over Allegheny County dedicated to helping the Northside Food Pantry become sustainable. The Northside Food Pantry Advisors (FPA) is a volunteer group formed in 2013 by Northside neighbors to assist the Northside Food Pantry become sustainable. The Northside Food Pantry, a program of Northside Common Ministries, serves food-insecure families that live in the three Northside zip codes of 15212, 15214 and 15233. It is the largest food pantry not only in Pittsburgh but in all of southwestern PA, and serves between 400 and 1,000 people per month who walk through the doors. Hundreds of neighbors donate time, food and money to the Pantry, community members from not only the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, but from around the country. Our donors are committed to ensuring that there is healthy food on the shelves at the Northside Food Pantry. The FPA’s goal is simple: We don’t want any of our neighbors going hungry.

On Saturday, 57 households were served. Those homes have 139 kids in them. The impact that our donors, volunteers, and supporters make every week is enormous but it’s also tangible. We track these things for accountability and transparency.

$25 buys a case of bananas for the week.
$100 pays for all of the clementines bags for kids that come to distribution.
$115 pays for all of the greens for a week that are high in fiber, calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants.
$450 pays for all of our other vegetables for the week such as potatoes, tomatoes, and onions.

Another successful Saturday with 51 households that were served. These families received almost 20 pounds of fresh and free produce for the week.

Our anchor produce is our leafy greens, the collard and the kale.

We also provide cucumbers, onions, potatoes, and apples.

We are incredibly light on volunteers this week and coming up in future weeks. Can you help? Every Saturday morning of the year we help our neighbors in a tangible and humbling way, by serving fresh and free produce!

We need you!

The households served this past Saturday was up at 59. That’s 59 homes there for food. Not just 59 people. 59 people representing kids, grandkids, spouses, children, an aunt that lives with them.

The need is only rising.

Fresh and free produce reduces stress and anxiety and relieves some financial strain on a family.
