ide Common Ministries, serves food-insecure families that live in the three Northside zip codes of 15212, 15214 and 15233. It is the largest food pantry not only in Pittsburgh but in all of southwestern PA, and serves between 400 and 1,000 people per month who walk through the doors. Hundreds of neighbors donate time, food and money to the Pantry, community members from not only the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, but from around the country. Our donors are committed to ensuring that there is healthy food on the shelves at the Northside Food Pantry. The FPA’s goal is simple: We don’t want any of our neighbors going hungry.

On Saturday, 49 households were served. Those homes have 177 kids in them. The impact that our donors, volunteers, and supporters make every week is enormous, but it’s also tangible.

If you’d like to support us, the donation link is below.

$25 buys a case of bananas for the week.
$100 pays for all of the clementines bags for kids that come to distribution.
$115 pays for all of the greens for a week that are high in fiber, calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants.
$450 pays for all of our other vegetables for the week such as potatoes, tomatoes, and onions.

The Role
We’re looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who believes that strong relationships are at the heart of strong community work. This role is about keeping our volunteer network connected, appreciated, informed, and growing.

The Volunteer Coordinator will help ensure we have the right people, at the right time, to make each distribution successful — while also making sure every volunteer feels seen and valued.

We work alongside local partners, volunteers, and community members to strengthen food support systems and respond to real needs in real time. The Role
We are looking for a passionate, relationship-driven Volunteer Director of Development to help us grow the resources that sustain our work. This is not just a fundraising role — it’s a community-building role.

The Director of Development will help tell our story, invite others into the mission, and build the relationships that keep our pantry work thriving. This person will take the lead on grant writing, donor relationships, and major gifts while partnering closely with our Board to ensure long-term sustainability.

What You’ll Do
Build Relationships That Fuel the Mission
Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and supporters

Personally steward and thank donors

Identify and connect with individuals who care deeply about food access

Help board members feel confident and engaged in fundraising efforts

Lead Our Grant Efforts
Research and apply for foundation, corporate, and community grants

Write compelling proposals that reflect the heart and impact of our work

Track deadlines and ensure timely reporting

Maintain organized records of submissions and outcomes

Grow Major Gifts
