Primary Election Day, Tuesday, May 19th, is here!

The polls are open from 7am until 8pm. If you have a mail-in ballot that has not yet been mailed or submitted, bring all contents from your ballot, including all envelopes, to your polling location. You may submit them at your poll, and you will then be able to vote with a regular ballot.

Some of you may have seen local press last week covering a story in which an Allegheny County candidate for State House, Patrick Catena, viciously attacked his Democratic primary election opponent, Brittany Bloam, utilizing transphobic rhetoric and criticizing her for her support of the LGBTQ+ community in a mailer sent to voters.

Allegheny County Democratic Committee (ACDC) leadership, along with a number of local Democratic elected officials, including Congressman Chris Deluzio and State Representative Arvind Venkat, denounced Catena's mailer and actions and how it targeted our LGBTQ+ neighbors.

Shadyside Democrats appreciates and fully supports the statements issued by ACDC leadership, Congressman Chris Deluzio, Representative Venkat, and other similar ones issued by other Allegheny County elected officials criticizing Catena's odious and disrespectful mailers.

Shadyside Democrats wishes Brittany Bloam well in her run for the State House. Shadyside Democrats also will always stand strongly with all members of the LGBTQ+ community, including our transgender neighbors, friends, and family.

Over the counter voting and mail in ballot return is available starting THIS weekend, May 9th and 10th. Get those mail in ballots returned as soon as possible!

Allegheny County makes voting easy! This weekend there will be satellite offices to drop off your ballots or to vote.

We hope you take the opportunity to vote early.

Over-the-counter is when you apply for your ballot and vote in one stop.

Also, PA law states you are only allowed to return your ballot. There are some folks with disabilities who can’t return theirs, in those cases a a designated agent form must be completed.
