The Education Network

The Education Network The Education Network is committed to creating a new paradigm for education. We exist to empower people to impact education in their communities.

THE EDUCATION NETWORK is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is committed to empower people to realize their fundamental commitment to education. We are a grassroots organization that provides a place for teachers, administrators, students, parents, and community members to work together, each with their own special qualities, to bring about a shift in what is possible for education.

For more than 25 years, The Education Network has provided highly specialized, custom training for educators to;
• Create learning environments that cultivate student participation and responsibility for their own education, resulting in remarkable gains in achievement.
• Provide leadership and inspiration in initiatives resulting in effective collaboration with colleagues, higher quality solutions to instructional problems, and successful implementation of school and district-wide projects. Our programs focus on skills that make it possible for people to transform complaints into committed action, to form extended partnerships, and to generate a focus which inspires extraordinary action over the long term.

“I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.” -John Steinbeck

Much of what we value in our country – the possibility of living with dignity, character, and wisdom – is a product of education.

Education makes available not only the opportunity for each and every student to nurture and develop their unique skills and abilities, it provides the foundations of our culture and traditions, and a pathway for exploring and creating the future – a pathway on which our deepest expressions as individuals and as humanity can unfold.

It is this rich possibility that The Education Network stands for. It is expressed in the last line of our mission statement: Society is enabled to fulfill the possibility of democracy.

We appreciate all the leaders who are educators and all the educators who are leaders that, no matter the circumstances of today, are inspiring our young people to be their best selves, rising above, dreaming, and accomplishing new possibilities.

I have found that one of the simplest and most effective ways to actually produce results is to adopt a practice that calls for operating consistent with my commitments. I have found a practice that really supports me: “being unstoppable in the face of the discomfort and the risk of not knowing, not having a clear pathway laid out.”

By sticking with this practice, I found that it builds faith in what I am committed to. My commitment takes priority over my identity. I can choose my commitment ongoingly rather than be afraid of it or having concerns about it. Each occurrence of when I am unstoppable feeds the next opportunity to be unstoppable. Practice makes it easier.

And when I don’t see a path to take action, I have given up “thinking about it.” Sometimes thinking is productive, but many times it is just stopping me. So, I get into some kind of action related to my commitment to get the ball rolling or ask for coaching to see something I am not seeing. The result is more productive and creative thinking and actions that move my commitments forward.

In these very challenging and unsettling times, adjusting to the disruptions and limitations to our daily lives consumes a major portion of our time and energy.

But regardless of our individual concerns, it’s in our nature to contribute to others. One of The Education Network’s community leaders, Valerie Sauvé, has found one way to do that. She contributes much-needed blood platelets at a local medical center.

No matter the obstacle, the human spirit always strives to be expressed.
