Congratulations to the 17 students from North Allegheny who have been named semifinalists for the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This week, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of more than 16,000 semifinalists selected based on their outstanding academic performance and their scores on the SAT or ACT, among other criteria.

Before the school day began, a group of North Allegheny staff members participated in the 911 Tower Memorial Challenge at Newman Stadium. In honor of the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and in remembrance of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, participants ascended 2,071 steps in the stadium bleachers to symbolize the 110 floors of the Twin Towers.

Tomorrow, September 11, 2026, the North Allegheny School District will observe Patriot Day. In honor of the 25th anniversary, students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. In accordance with Pennsylvania Act 25 of 2024, all schools will participate in a moment of silence.
