**Thank you, Eric Borich, for donating this yearbook so we can all enjoy**
It took many hours to scan and correct each of the pages of the 1942 yearbook. Please take a look through the book and see if you recognize anyone and share stories. Check out page #75 and read the "interesting" obituary for a teacher named Mr. Halleck, who taught at South High.
Also, here is a list of what was happening in Pittsburgh in June of 1942 to help set the stage for this yearhook. This list below was provided by ChatGPT:
+Pittsburgh's steel industry was vital during WWII, producing massive amounts of steel for military use.
+Residents participated in aluminum scrap drives to support aircraft production.
+City-wide blackout drills were conducted as a precaution against potential enemy air raids.
+Citizens were encouraged to grow Victory Gardens to supplement food supplies.
+Labor strikes occurred in steel mills, with workers demanding better wages and conditions.
+The Red Cross in Pittsburgh organized blood drives and first aid training to support the war effort.
+Frequent War Bond drives were held to finance military operations, promoted by local celebrities and leaders.
+Theaters showed propaganda films to boost morale and support for the war.
