Commercial Structure Fire Response

Just after noon today, Station 163 was dispatched to the Burger King on Noblestown Road for a reported commercial structure fire.

Fortunately, our friends from the Crafton Volunteer Fire Department were nearby grabbing lunch when the call came in. Their crews discovered a fryer fire inside the restaurant and acted quickly and safely extinguished the fire with a portable fire extinguisher before it could spread.

Crews from Stations 163 and 128 remained on scene to ventilate the building and ensure there were no remaining hazards before returning to service.

The restaurant is currently closed while cleanup is completed.

A big thank you to the quick actions of the Crafton crews for helping prevent what could have become a much more significant incident.

Last night, just before 1:30 a.m., Rescue 163 was dispatched to the area of McMonagle Avenue and Greentree Road for a reported motor vehicle accident.

While crews were responding, additional updates indicated that a male was outside the vehicle and lying on the ground. Due to the severity of the reported incident and conflicting information regarding the exact location, East Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department was added to the assignment.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed there were two patients involved, with one patient in critical condition. Firefighters from both departments assisted EMS with scene safety, debris removal, and traffic control while medics evaluated and transported both patients to local hospitals.
Due to the serious nature of the crash, the SHACOG Crash Reconstruction Team was requested to the scene and will be conducting the investigation in conjunction with Green Tree Police.

Joint Tuesday Night Training

This evening, our members teamed up with our first alarm partners at Crafton Volunteer Fire Department for a joint training session focused on high-rise operations.

Crews reviewed the deployment of high-rise packs and standpipe operations, while also taking the opportunity to familiarize one another with each department’s equipment and apparatus. Training together strengthens our teamwork, improves interoperability, and ensures we’re prepared to serve our communities when the call comes.

This morning, we had the pleasure of giving the winners of the Keystone Oaks School District spring flower sale a ride to Aiken Elementary School in one of our trucks!

The two students were recognized as the top sellers in the PFO’s flower sale fundraiser and were picked up at their homes before being escorted to school in style. They even got the chance to use the lights and sirens as they arrived to cheers from their classmates!
