There will be temporary road closures today, May 16, 2026, for the USC Community Day Parade, which begins at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The parade route will travel from Truxton Drive → McLaughlin Run Road → Panther Pass.

The event is expected to last approximately one hour, and roadways will be reopened after the parade ends.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, plan alternate routes, and expect brief delays.

Our department has received reports of a phone scam involving individuals claiming to be from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office regarding the service of a bench warrant.

In these incidents, the caller attempts to create urgency and pressure the recipient into taking immediate action.

Please remember:

- Law enforcement agencies will not contact you by phone to demand immediate action regarding warrants.
- You should never provide personal or financial information to unsolicited callers.
- If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately.
- To verify legitimacy, contact the agency directly using an official phone number.

ILLEGIBLE LICENSE PLATE & DISABILITY PLACARD EVENT
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 11 am until 1 pm, an Upper St. Clair Officer will be present at Representative Mihalek's office (1121 Boyce Rd., Suite 2200A, Pittsburgh, PA 15241) to check and complete replacement registration forms for any Pennsylvania resident who has a license plate that is peeling, damaged, or otherwise illegible. We can also assist with obtaining disability parking placards.

PennDOT will then replace the license plate for FREE once they receive the required documentation.

Today, Thursday, April 16, 2026, a law enforcement training exercise will take place in the 1600 block of McLaughlin Run Road. Residents may notice increased activity and the presence of emergency vehicles in the area.

This is a scheduled training drill, and there is no cause for public concern. We appreciate your understanding as officers continue to train to serve the community safely and effectively.

On Monday morning, April 13, 2026, Upper St. Clair police officers responded to reports of an unattended death in the area of McMurray Rd. between Country Club Dr. and Bethel Church Rd. The Upper St. Clair Police Department has engaged the Allegheny County Police Department to support the investigation.

No additional information is available at this time. Updates will be provided as appropriate.

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Sgt. Joel Donovic, graduated from the 297th session of the FBI National Academy (FBINA) in Quantico, Virginia. The session consisted of 253 law enforcement officers representing 48 states, the District of Columbia, and included 26 international officers from 24 countries, along with members of four military and four federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the FBINA offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Instruction is provided by FBI special agents, academy staff, and subject-matter experts, many with advanced degrees and international recognition.

A total of 56,941 graduates from across the world have completed the FBINA since it began in 1935. It is held at the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.

The Upper St. Clair Police Department is hosting a Senior Safety Seminar on Monday, April 6th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the C&RC.

This informative seminar will focus on scams targeting our senior community, providing valuable insight into how these schemes work and practical tips to help avoid becoming a victim.

We encourage seniors, family members, and caregivers to attend and learn how to stay informed, alert, and protected. Together, we can help keep our community safe.

Trooper Gagliardi of the PA State Police, a representative from the FBI, and a representative from AAA will be presenting.

PHONE SCAM ALERT

Please be advised that individuals are calling and claiming to be with the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office and have an arrest warrant for the victim failing to appear in court. They stress that the victim should stay on the line until they turn themselves in or pay a fine over the phone to resolve the issue. They may even try to persuade you that they will transfer you to another officer to verify the call. If you receive such a call, please hang up immediately.

TIPS TO PREVENT FALLING VICTIM TO THIS TYPE OF SCAM:
- First and foremost, if anyone is contacting about a legal issue and request payment be made via gift card, prepaid card, or electronic payment methods, it is a scam.
- Even though the caller ID may say “Sheriff’s Office” or be a 412-350-###X phone number, scammers can spoof both.
- Never give out financial or personal information over the phone to anyone.
- If you never received a summons by mail, ignore the phone call or hang up and call the agency in question to confirm any questions.
- Missing court for any reason is not a felony, it’s a contempt of court issue. In turn, one would have to appear in court for a fine to be imposed.
- Government agencies do not conduct any business via text message.
