On this day in 1936: Tejan Coal Company and the Emsworth Railroad Station during the 1936 St. Patrick’s Day flood! These buildings were located by the Emsworth Locks and Dam. The Tejan Coal Company building is now the office for Keith Johnston’s Construction Company.

Join us this evening at 7pm at Anchor & Anvil Coffee Bar in Ben Avon!

With more than 900 unique flights of stairs throughout the city’s 90 neighborhoods, Pittsburgh’s public stairs reflect the history and character of a diverse city. Authors Laura Zurowski, Charles Succop, and Matthew Jacob present the history of Pittsburgh’s city steps alongside maps and incredible walking tours that reveal the beauty of the city through its most unique public infrastructure.

Lecture is free to the public.
