Over the past two decades, NeighborWorks® organizations have leveraged over $500 million of investment into the local Pennsylvania economy, including $54 million during FY2009 alone. NeighborWorks® chartered members are the only organizations guaranteed by law to match state and local money secured with federal funding to assist families in buying and preserving their homes. Between 2006 and 2009,
Neighborworks® organizations invested $4.35 million into stabilizing and improving housing in communities across PA. NeighborWorks® organizations have kept thousands of families in their homes through rehabilitation services and foreclosure mitigation counseling. In the last four years, we have supplied 8,986 families with homeownership and foreclosure prevention counseling and assisted 1,399 families in becoming new homeowners and 719 families in escaping foreclosure. In the last 20 years, NeighborWorks® organizations in Pennsylvania have created 6,838 new homeowners. Last year alone, we provided housing education services for 1,382 households, resulting in 399 new homebuyers and contributing $45 million to Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
