The Parade begins at Erhardt Drive at Frankstown Road at 11:30am and concludes at the Penn Hills Government Center on Duff Road.

Our Memorial Ceremony begins at the Government Center at 12pm. We hope to see all of you there!

Members of your Penn Hills Police Special Response Team (SRT)🪖recently attended interagency training hosted by STAT MedEvac.

The training focused on downed officer rescue operations, establishing hasty landing zones, and safe helicopter 🚁 approach procedures.

Opportunities like this strengthen coordination, preparedness, and officer safety during critical incidents. We would like to extend a huge thank you to STAT MedEvac and their staff for hosting the training today.

Dogs 🐕 and Motorcycles 🏍️ have always naturally flowed together with the badge. 🚨

Tomorrow, we take a moment to recognize one of our own. We would like to personally invite any members from the community to attend to take in the moment.

Detective Dustin Hess, assigned to our F.A.S.T. Unit, will be formally recognized for his outstanding police work and the impact he continues to make in this community. His work ethic, results, and commitment to proactive policing speak for themselves, and they represent exactly what we expect from our officers every day.

The Allegheny County District Attorney office will be present in support of the event.

We are still gathering to honor our fallen Officers, Michael Crawshaw, Patrolman Bartley J. Connolly Jr., and Sergeant William Schrott, beginning at 10:30 AM at the Penn Hills Police Department before proceeding to the county memorial service on the North Shore.

Due to the inclement weather we will host the ceremony in the Council Chambers located in the Municipal Building. Thank you.♥️💙

🚔Officer Highlight🚔

When we talk about what the future of policing looks like in Penn Hills, this is exactly what we mean. Meet Officer Lauren DeGarmo.

From the court to the classroom to the streets, her path has always been built on discipline, resilience, and a commitment to being part of something bigger than herself.

A graduate of North Catholic High School in 2009, she left her mark early as a standout athlete, scoring well over 1,000 points and setting the tone for a career defined by work ethic and consistency. She carried that same drive to Clarion University, where she played four years of college basketball before stepping into the next chapter of service.

In 2017, Officer DeGarmo graduated from the Allegheny County Police Academy and began her law enforcement career with the Springdale Borough Police Department. She continued to grow professionally with the University of Pittsburgh Police Department in 2018, before bringing that experience and professionalism to Penn Hills in April of 2022.

Officer DeGarmo is the oldest of three siblings, setting the example early in life, and she continues to do that every day in uniform. She is an exemplary officer and represents exactly what we look for and expect in this profession.

Beyond the badge, her story is one of family, commitment, and balance. She met her husband Dennis in May of 2020, married in March of 2023, and together they continue to serve this region. Dennis is a member of the Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad, and this September, they will welcome their first child, a baby boy.

This job demands a lot. It demands strength, integrity, and heart. Officer DeGarmo brings all of that, every single day.

To the next generation, especially the young women reading… there is a place for you here and this is what it looks like when you answer that call.

This profession is stronger because of officers like Lauren, and the future is wide open for those willing to put in the work and answer the call.

**UPDATE**

This Saturday, we will honor all three of our fallen Penn Hills officers, remembering Officer Michael Crawshaw, Patrolman Bartley J. Connolly Jr., and Sergeant William Schrott together, united in service, sacrifice, and legacy.

This Saturday, May 2, 2026, our Penn Hills Police Department will proudly join the Allegheny County Communities and Police Together (ACCAPT) group in honoring our fallen brothers, Officer Michael Crawshaw, Patrolman Bartley J. Connolly Jr., and Sergeant William Schrott during a memorial ride and the Allegheny County Memorial Service on the North Shore.

Participants from our department and surrounding agencies will gather at the Penn Hills Police Department at 10:30 AM, where a brief memorial service will be held and a wreath will be presented in their honor.

Following that ceremony, a procession of vehicles will depart for the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial of Allegheny County, where the countywide memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM.

This service is more than a ceremony to us. It is a moment for all of us to stand together in remembrance and reflection. Officer Crawshaw, Patrolman Connolly, and Sergeant Schrott exemplified what it means to serve with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

They were valued members of this department, brothers in uniform, and individuals who made a lasting impact on this community through their dedication and character.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and it is our duty to honor their memory not only on this day, but in the way we continue to serve.

We invite our residents, family members, friends, neighboring communities, and all who wish to pay their respects to join us in honoring our fallen officers. Your presence would mean more than words can express.

Please continue to keep their loved ones, and all who carry their memory, in your thoughts and prayers.

Today, we had the opportunity to meet with District Attorney Stephen Zappala alongside local police chiefs, municipal leaders, and Mayor Pauline Calabrese to discuss innovative public safety initiatives designed to better serve our communities.

We thank District Attorney Zappala for hosting this important discussion and thank Mayor Calabrese for supporting collaborative efforts that help keep Penn Hills safe.
