Find a caring community and the support you need with EmpowHer!

Presented by Allies for Health + Wellbeing, AIDS Free Pittsburgh and Love in Action Through Faith Initiative, EmpowHer is a support group for women living with HIV that meets once a month at Allies.

The next meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at Allies’ office, 211 N. Whitfield St., Suite 500, in East Liberty.

We are deeply saddened to learn that former Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force executive director Kathi Boyle passed away on Saturday after battling ALS for several years. Kathi was the executive director of PATF from 2004 to 2011 and was responsible for numerous milestones, including enrolling PATF in the 340B pharmacy program in 2007 and relocating the organization from Wilkinsburg to 5913 Penn Ave. in East Liberty.

We are grateful that Kathi was able to recount some of her memories of PATF with us for our Legends and Legacies storytelling event in December, which we are sharing again here.

Our sympathies go out to Kathi's loved ones and friends, particularly her spouse Betty Hill.
